Cape Town City have confirmed that striker Victor Obinna will be out of action for around three weeks as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

The burly Nigerian picked up said injury in the Citizens 1-0 win over Free State Stars in midweek.

The 30-year-old, though, might be ready for the club’s next encounter with the upcoming international break giving Obinna time to recover.

City’s next fixture is at home to current Absa Premiership leaders Baroka FC on the 22nd of November. The Telkom Knockout holders exited this year’s competition at the first round, falling to Bakgaga 1-0 in Polokwane.

The former Inter Milan and West Ham United forward has scored one goal in eight appearances for the club this season.

Liverpool’s Senegalese attacker Sadio Mane has been sidelined for six weeks after being injured while on international duty.

The 25-year-old picked up a hamstring injury while playing for the Teranga Lions in their 2-0 win over Cape Verde in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers last weekend.

Mane’s first match on the sidelines will be the Reds’ Premier League clash with hated rivals Manchester United on Saturday.

The Senegalese has already missed three league matches this season following his controversial red card against Manchester City last month.

Mane will be a big miss for manager Jurgen Klopp, with the attacker having scored three goals in just five EPL matches this season.

AfricanFootball looks ahead to a full set of Absa Premiership fixtures spread across the next three evenings, as surprise leaders Maritzburg United and Cape Town City look to continue their strong early-season form.

The action begins on Monday evening, with Mamelodi Sundowns looking to shrug off a stuttering start to the campaign when they head to Goble Park to take on Free State Stars.

It’s a tricky away match for coach Pitso Mosimane, who has also to balance out the demands of a CAF Champions League quarterfinal match on the weekend, while Ea Lla Koto will have Luc Eymael sitting on the bench for his first match since succeeding Sammy Troughton.

Another coach taking charge of his first match at a new club is Roger de Sa, who will lead bottom-placed Platinum Stars in their clash at an in-form SuperSport United on a busy Tuesday evening.

There will also be a KwaZulu-Natal derby between AmaZulu and Maritzburg United, Orlando Pirates will look to add to Ajax Cape Town’s struggles, Polokwane City will fancy their chances of a home win against Bloemfontein Celtic, and the battle between Chippa United and Baroka FC promises to be entirely unpredictable.

The round wraps up with two matches on Wednesday: Bidvest Wits and Golden Arrows will renew hostilities a few weeks after their MTN8 quarterfinal which saw no less than six red cards brandished, while Kaizer Chiefs are in desperate need of a strong performance when they head to the ‘Mother City’ to take on Benni McCarthy’s Cape Town City.

Aubameyang suitors have two weeks to complete a transfer – 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers – Africa

Suitors of Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have two weeks to try and sign the Gabonese attacker.

The German club’s chiefs have confirmed that they are open to selling the Panthers attacker – for a steep price – but want the transfer completed before their team begins preseason under new coach Peter Bosz in two weeks.

Chelsea and AC Milan are the European clubs said to be most interested in signing Aubameyang, while the player has a big-money offer from Chinese side Tianjin Quanjian on the table.

Yet Sky Deutschland reports that Dortmund have yet to receive a concrete offer from a fellow European club and want clubs to either step up and submit or a bid, or for the speculation around their prize asset to end.

BVB director Michael Zorc revealed: “For now, we assume that Aubameyang remains. We agreed with him that we will remain open to discussions, but only up to a certain amount of time will we wait.”
