Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson believes that Ivorian international Wilfried Zaha will be a wanted man during the January transfer window.

Zaha is enjoying his football at the moment having scored three goals in his last five English Premier League (EPL) matches for Palace.

Hodgson, who is a former England head coach, has stated that the London-based side will receive offers for the 25-year-old winger-cum-striker.

“You can’t ever dismiss interest in any of your players,” Hodgson told the media.

“Wilfried Zaha is an obvious name, but there are other players that I wouldn’t be surprised if there were other clubs interested in.

“And we have to be prepared for that going into January.

Zaha was linked with a possible transfer to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this year, but Palace managed to keep him.

“If offers come along for players who are doing well for us and we are not particularly anxious to lose them,” he continued.

“Then we will have to make decisions on what offers are to be turned down and what could be accepted.”

Zaha and his Palace team-mates will face Stoke City in an EPL match on Saturday.

“Interest spiked after Senegal qualified for the World Cup [last week]. Several clubs and agents want to hold talks,” Balkan said.

The Senegal captain has established himself as one of West Ham’s key players since joining the English club from Belgian side Anderlecht in 2014.

“The Italian and Premier League scouts have been very impressed. Kouyate is very happy in England, he’s settled into life,” he added.

“There are no offers on the table at this stage, we will hold talks and consider our options.”

Kouyate and his West Ham team-mates will face Watford in an English Premier League game on Sunday.

Chelsea’s Ghanaian defender Baba Rahman is still a transfer target for German Bundesliga side Schalke.

The Black Stars left-back joined the Royal Blues on a season-long loan deal a year ago, but his spell in Germany was cut short after he picked up a serious knee injury at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

He returned to parent club Chelsea for rehabilitation and will soon be ready to take to the field again, though no definite date has been set.

He looks set to be a peripheral figure at the Premier League champions under coach Antonio Conte and Schalke’s interest could spare him a season of frustration.

“We are in talks with the player, his advisor and Chelsea,” said Schalke’s sporting director Christian Heidel.

“Ultimately, it is about when Baba will be able to play again. No decision has yet been made.”

Wednesday Aug 09, 2017. 15:00

Monchi, the sporting director of Roma, says his club remains hopeful of signing Leicester City’s Algerian star Riyad Mahrez, despite failing with three bids.

Sky Italia claims that Roma have recently had a third offer of £31.8m – a club record for the Serie A giants – rejected by the Foxes, following previous bids of £20m and £27m.

“I’m optimistic in life, by nature. Rome is doing everything possible to take the player,” Monchi said at the unveiling of another new signing, Gregoire Defrel.

“I am happy with the effort the club is making to take him. It is close to the limit. I do not think the club has often bid over €30m.

“If my memory does not deceive me, the latest offer would be the club’s most expensive purchase in our history.

“We are, therefore, engaged and expect an answer. But it is true that we are working on other solutions.”

According to The Citizen source, Pirates are confident of completing Ngele’s signing before this weekend’s Carling Black Label Cup.

Leicester City’s Algerian star Riyad Mahrez is a transfer target for Serie A giants Roma, according to Sky in Italy.

Mahrez has been on Leicester’s books since signing from Le Havre in 2014 and helped them claim an unlikely Premier League triumph in 2015/16, earning the PFA Player of the Year prize in the process.

The Fennec Foxes player also helped Leicester reach the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League last season.

However, in May he handed in a transfer request in an effort to force through a move away from the King Power Stadium, with the likes of Barcelona and Arsenal reportedly interested in signing the player.

Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare told Sky Sports last week that the club had yet to receive any offers for Mahrez, but this new interest from Roma may open up a new chapter in the saga.

The Italian club could view the Algerian as a replacement for Mohamed Salah, whom they sold to Liverpool last month.

According to the Daily Mail, Birmingham are prepared to break their club record transfer fee to sign the player from Belgian side KES Eupen.
