The 25-year-old forward has been hailed as one of the best signings in the English Premier League (EPL) by Liverpool FC icon Robbie Fowler.

Liverpool signed Salah from Italian giants AS Roma on a long-term contract for an initial €42m fee that could rise to up to €50m.

The fee was a club record, eclipsing the £35m spent on English striker Andy Carroll in 2011. Salah has since hit the ground running at Liverpool.

The Egyptian international has impressively netted 12 goals in 17 games across all competitions since joining the EPL giants.

Legendary English striker Fowler, who is Liverpool‘s all-time top scorer with 346 goals, praised Salah’s qualities and goalscoring form.

“I think certainly at the start of the year there was plenty of goals in them, a few missed chances,” Fowler told ESPN.

“All the pressure was put on the defenders then because they were conceding goals,”

“But now they’re scoring goals and everything is taken away from the defense, I think we are quite happy the way we’re going, three good wins,” the 42-year-old continued.

“Certainly the signing of Mo Salah has probably been one of the signings of the Premier League so far.

“With the pace he has got he will have chances all day and he needs to keep up the good form because he is important for Liverpool,” he concluded.

Orlando Pirates coach Kjell Jonevret reflected on his side’s defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in Johannesburg, South Africa on Saturday.

Chiefs successfully defended the 2017 Carling Black Label Champion Cup after defeating their Soweto rivals Pirates 1-0 at the FNB stadium.

However, Jonevret is optimistic about the future as he side prepare for the upcoming 2017/18 season.

“We had a ‘different’ team [at the start] and players in strange positions,” Jonevret told SuperSport TV channel.

“But when we started changing players in the second half and we saw a few of the new guys.

“We created two or three really big chances and with a little bit of luck we could have scored,” he continued.

“Overall we are disappointed, but we have to try to look forward.

The Swedish tactician was pleased to see Bucs’ two new signings Thamsanqa Sangweni and Musa Nyatama making their debuts for the club.

“The two new boys showed they want to get in and play good football. I hope for a bright future for Pirates,” he concluded.

Chippa United have announced 11 new signings as they get ready for their 2017/18 Premier Soccer League campaign in South Africa.

Coach Dan Malesela and his technical team will want to lead the side to a decent finish as they survived the relegation axe in their last term.

In a statement on their Twitter page, the Chilli Boys have signed Nigerian defender James Okwuosa from Orlando Pirates whilst they also unveiled players such as Kurt Lentjies from Maritzburg United.

On the other hand, Highlands Park striker Moeketsi Sekola joins on loan as well as Mamelodi Sundowns’ Samuel Julies.

Among the new faces is Phetso Maphanga, Stanley Makgoka, Xolani Maholo from the MultiChoice Diski Challenge side and Zitha Macheke.

Meanwhile, former Platinum Stars winger Mahlatse Makudubela has also joined the Port Elizabeth-based outfit on loan from the Sea Robbers.
