Who is Real Madrid’s new signing Exequiel Palacios?

Real Madrid have completed their very first January signing in young River Plate star Exequiel Palacios.

The twenty-year-old midfielder is regarded a person of the greatest young skills in South American football and wasn’t quick of admirers.

Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Inter Milan have been amid those joined with moves for Palacios.

But Real gained the race for Palacios’ signature with 6 months to go before the wintertime transfer window opens.

The European champions will invest over €20m for the youngster to River Plate, who reluctantly agreed to offer.

For that reason, Palacios will get there at Madrid in January and set pen to paper on a 5-12 months deal.

Background

Palacios comes from a town identified as Famaillá in Argentina with all around only 22,924 inhabitants.

Nonetheless, his moms and dads quickly moved to Buenos Aires in San Martín – in which he commenced his football vocation at Junta Vecinal José Ingenieros.

Afterwards on, Palacios joined River Plate and made his senior level debut in Argentina’s Primera División in November 2015 at 17 a long time old.

Right after 45 minutes against Newell’s Old Boys, Palacios had to wait a different 5 months for additional senior level action.

But Palacios’ prospective was very clear from the start and he is now a valued member of River Plate.

The Argentine has managed four goals and 5 assists throughout 38 appearances in all competitions.

Palacios even rejected an offer you to sign up for Serie A club Torino final 12 months and attained his very first two caps for the Argentina senior team in September 2018.

Interestedly, the youngster idolises Real Madrid midfield duo Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

Other players he admires are Lucho González along with Andrés Iniesta and Lionel Messi.

How will Palacios suit in at Real Madrid?

In contrast to idols Kroos and Modric, Palacios is a distinctive kind of central midfielder.

“El Temple” is a specialist for thieving the ball and has a knack of locating areas inside of the opposition defence.

Palacios also features a passing precision of 80% in the Primera División this season.

In spite of his young age, the Argentine is not afraid of large problems and typically attempts his luck at extended-array shots.

Observers have as opposed him to Boca Juniors legend Juan Román Riquelme, who also performed for Barcelona and Villarreal.

Palacios even showcased a temperament for the large situation with an excellent display screen in River Plate’s Gran Clásico 2- win over Boca in September.

Switching to European football and having in the minutes at Real will stand for a large new challenge for Palacios.

The South American will contend with Kroos, Modric, Casemiro, Isco, Marco Asensio and Dani Ceballos for a midfield place.

Nonetheless, new Real manager Santiago Solari has tested with Vinicius Junior that he is not afraid to hand a young player an opportunity.

And obviously Los Blancos believe that Palacios can make a fast effect by signing him in advance of the next part of this season.

So while options may be tricky to appear by at the start, Palacios looks set to play a crucial role for Real in the latter levels of the campaign.

Mohamed Salah tipped as ‘signing of the season’

by
Bertin Basson

Wednesday Nov 15, 2017. 17:30

Mohamed Salah has been described as the ‘signing of the season’ by former West Ham United forward Dean Ashton.

Salah has been in an impressive form since arriving at Anfield from Roma in the European summer, with his early exploits attracting a lot of praise. He also scored the decisive goal as Egypt booked their return to the World Cup for the first time since 1990 in what has been a memorable few months for the winger.

The 25-year-old has scored 12 goals in 17 appearances across all competitions so far this season, with his record better than that of both Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez at this early stage of their respective Liverpool careers.

“Mohamed Salah is the best signing of the summer,” Ashton told the Premier League’s official website.

“He looks a totally different player from his time at Chelsea.

“I’ve been surprised by how quick, how direct he is, and he’s a better finisher than I thought.

”He’s really added to that Liverpool side.”

Salah endured a largely disappointing spell at Stamford Bridge, but a successful period in Italy has been followed by a rip-roaring start to his time with the Reds.

German Bundesliga club Schalke 04 are reportedly looking at re-signing Ghanaian defender Baba Rahman in the January transfer window.

The Black Stars left-back has returned to training at parent club Chelsea following a major knee injury he suffered while on international duty at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Rahman spent the first half of last season on loan at Schalke and was a major hit with the German side, though he returned to Chelsea following his injury.

The Royal Blues tried to get Rahman back on loan at the start of the current campaign, but the 23-year-old was not fully recovered from his injury.

However, the Bundesliga outfit now believe they can convince Rahman to join them on loan for the rest of the season once the transfer window opens in the New Year.

“I would not rule out that we deal with Baba in the winter,” Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel told German media.

The midfield maestro has hit the ground running after joining English Premier League (EPL) outfit Southampton FC a few months ago.

Much was expected from Lemina when he joined Southampton on a five-year deal for a club record fee of £15.4 millon in August 2017.

The Gabon international is definitely living up to expectations by producing excellent displays for the Saints thus far this season.

The Saints are currently enjoying a two-match unbeaten run the EPL – having defeated West Bromwich Albion after drawing with Newcastle United.

Lemina is the link between the team’s midfield and attack. The dynamic right-footed player starts the team’s attacks and he tends to play the ball forward from the middle of the park.

The former French youth international was instrumental in helping Southampton secure a 1-0 league win over West Brom at St Mary’s Stadium last weekend.

Former England and Southampton defender Wayne Bridge recently praised the 24-year-old hard-working midfielder.

“Lemina is such a great player: his work rate, the way he gets up and down the pitch. He passes forward a lot,” the retired defender told EPL’s official website.

Born in Libreville, Gabon, Lemina has featured in seven league matches for the Saints, who will take on Brighton and Hove Albion away on Sunday.

The former Olympique Marseille star will be looking to continue his good form for the Saints this weekend.

PSG trying to ‘f*ck’ Barca by signing Seri – 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers – Africa

by
Graeme Jackson

Thursday Aug 24, 2017. 17:30

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly trying to sign Ivorian Jean-Michael Seri to ‘f*ck’ Barcelona, according to the player’s agent.

The Elephants midfielder has become a highly-regarded player following his standout form for Nice and is a major transfer target for some of Europe’s biggest names.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hostpur have been linked with the 26-year-old, while earlier in the week Spanish giants Barcelona appeared to have struck a deal to bring him to the Camp Nou.

However, Seri remains at Nice and their Ligue 1 rivals PSG are now looking to throw a spanner in the works by stealing the player from under Barca’s noses.

The Parisian club has already had controversial dealings with the Catalans this transfer window, smashing the world record fee to sign Brazilian attacker Neymar earlier in the month.

“It was possible to reach an agreement as Barcelona and Nice were negotiating,” Seri’s agent Franklin Mala told RAC1.

“On Tuesday, they were in France, talking about technical aspects but they already knew Seri’s capabilities.

“PSG came three days ago. Now PSG is putting pressure on the club to take the player, it’s crazy. They just want to do it to f**k Barca.”

Gradel would have been a big signing for Sunderland AFC – 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers – Africa

Bournemouth defender Steve Cook and Max Gradel

Monday Aug 21, 2017. 10:00

English Championship club Sunderland AFC have revealed that they were in the race to sign new Toulouse FC signing Max Gradel.

AFC Bournemouth, who are campaigning in the English Premier League (EPL), recently shipped out the Ivorian international to French Ligue 1 side Toulouse on a season-long loan deal.

Sunderland manager Simon Grayson has since disclosed that they had reached an agreement with Bournemouth regarding Gradel’s services, but the player was keen to return to France.

“We spoke to Max and he eventually decided to go back to France,” Grayson told The Northern Echo.

“We had agreed something with Bournemouth and ultimately he is a good player that I wanted to bring to the club.

“It shows you where we are as a club with the players that we are looking at,” he continued.

“That would have been a big signing for us if we had managed to do it, but he just felt his family wanted to go back to France.

“And that was a disappointment for us, but that is part and parcel of the transfer window.”

The 29-year-old winger is back in the Ligue 1 having turned out for Saint-Etienne in the French top-flight league between 2011 and 2015.

Why SuperSport won’t be signing Swazi star Ndzinisa – ABSA Premiership 2017/18

by
Austin Ditlhobolo

Tuesday Aug 08, 2017. 14:00

South African outfit SuperSport United have disclosed why they won’t be signing Swazi international Sabelo Ndzinisa.

The Mbabane Swallows striker has been on trial at the Absa Premiership side, but the club’s technical team has decided against signing him.

Eric Tinkler, the SuperSport head coach, explained that they would be signing the player because they already have enough quality in their striking department.

“He’s been training with us for the last couple of days because a request came in to find out if he could, so I said, ‘no problem, let’s have a look at him’,” Tinkler was quoted on Kick Off website.

“But I don’t think we will be signing him, no. Right now that [strikers] is one thing I don’t have any issues with – [Jeremy] Brockie has been extremely good, we still have [Kingston] Nkhatha, Bradley Grobler and we’ve just signed Prince Dube.

“I allowed him to train just to have a look at him – today he played a little bit of a friendly, but from today he’ll move on.”

The prolific forward, who is one of Swallows’ star players, has also been linked with South African clubs Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu FC.

Ndzinisa has netted six goals in this year’s CAF Confederation Cup for Swallows, who failed to reach the knockout stages of the competition.

The 26-year-old marksman also helped Swallows clinch the 2016/17 Swazi Premier League title.

Leicester City vice-chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha has revealed that if the club are to complete the signing of Kelechi Iheanacho, it will be “soon”.

The Foxes have been strongly linked with the Nigerian international with Pep Guardiola having deemed the forward surplus to requirements.

Iheanacho, 20, has done exceptionally well in his short period with the Citizens despite playing second fiddle for most of his stay at the Etihad Stadium.

The City youth graduate, who joined the club from Taye Academy Owerri three years ago following his eye-catching performances at the 2013 U17 World Cup, has scored 21 goals in 64 games for the Sky Blues.

Gabriel Jesus’ arrival in Manchester, though, has pushed Iheanacho further down the pecking order with a move to the Foxes imminent for the Super Eagles forward.

“Yes, we have interest in him,” Srivaddhanaprabha is reported as saying according to Manchester Evening News.

“But we have to wait for Manchester City’s stance on this, as they are still in their pre-season as well. If it happens, it will be soon.”
