West Ham United have control over Senegalese striker Diafra Sakho’s future, according to the Daily Mail.

The English news outlet reports that Sakho’s contract with West Ham includes a two-year option that the club can trigger to keep the attacker at the London Stadium.

The Teranga Lions man was left frustrated in the European summer after missing out on a move to French Ligue 1 club Rennes on deadline day.

West Ham are in a strong position with their two-year option on Sakho but could still award him an improved contract if he continues to perform.

The 27-year-old has worked his way back into contention for a regular first-team place under coach Slaven Bilic.

Senegal striker Diafra Sakho has “balanced his head” at West Ham United and is nearing a return to his best, according to coach Slaven Bilic.

The Teranga Lions striker came off the bench to score the winner for the Hammers in their victory over Swansea this past weekend.

Sakho has battled against injuries through the course of 2017 but there is hope that he will kick on and recapture the prolific form he showed when he first joined West Ham in 2014.

“Sakho, there have been stories about him in the transfer window and all that, but he stayed and he’s balanced his head here,” said Bilic in regards to the Senegalese attacker.

“He is training good and that’s why he is playing in most of the games, because he looks good and sharp in training. That’s why he came on, on Saturday, and he did his job. That’s why he’s in my plans.

“I spoke to him a couple of times but it’s more about him. His problem was that, the whole of last season, he was out and he was injured and had problems and an operation.

“Now he feels fit and he is training better and more regularly and, because he is training better, I am using him and that is balancing his head.

“We didn’t want to let him go. He had a couple of talks with the Chairman and with me and it all helped, but it was mostly him, because if the person doesn’t want to do it, you can’t make it good enough to play the game. It was him who wanted to be here, for him and for us.”

Sakho is set to feature for Senegal when they play a 2018 World Cup qualifier away to Cape Verde on Saturday.

Senegal striker Diafra Sakho has hinted that he may be on his way out of West Ham United when the transfer window reopens in January.

The Teranga Lions attacker wanted to the leave the Hammers before the start of the 2017/18 season, but was unable to secure a transfer.

The 27-year-old old has yet to start a Premier League match this term, but this past weekend he came off the bench to score the only goal in a crunch win over Swansea City.

After his last-gasp strike against the Swans, Sakho hinted that January could bring a change in his career path.

“It’s not easy to prove to the people what I can do on the pitch when I only play for 10 minutes,” said the Senegal striker.

“But I don’t need to knock on the manager’s door – he knows what I can do, now I have to force my way into the team. I just want to enjoy being part of this team and we will see what happens in January.”

Sakho will now turn his attention to Senegal’s upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde on Saturday.
