Reports of an imminent transfer to Barcelona for Ivorian midfielder Jean-Michael Seri are just rumours, according to Nice general manager Julien Fournier.

The Elephants player has been strongly linked with a transfer to the Spanish giants, who are reportedly ready to exercise a €40m buyout clause in his contract.

But Fournier told Sport: “We haven’t negotiated with Barca nor do I know of any negotiations lined up in the next few days.

“They’re just rumours, so we haven’t set a price for Seri.

“I think the player will stay with us this season.

“It’s true that he is open to listening to offers but he’s also happy at Nice whether we qualify for the group stages of the Champions League or not.”

Seri is set to feature for the French club in the second leg of their Champions League qualifier tonight, as they look to overturn a 0-2 deficit against Italian side Napoli.

Reports linking brothers Andre and Jordan Ayew to a move back to Olympique Marseille are nothing more than rumours, according to their father and Ghana legend Abedi Pele.

Both West Ham United midfielder Andre and Swansea City striker Jordan have been linked with OM, the team both players started their professional careers with.

Abedi Pele, who won two Ligue 1 titles and the UEFA Champions League with Marseille in the early 1990s, insists that there is nothing concrete behind the reports linking his sons with a move back to the south of France.

He told Graphic Sports: “I think these are just rumours. I just came back from Marseille and it does not seem to be the order of the day, but you know in football, things go so fast.

“We will be very attentive in the days and weeks to come.”
