De Bruyne: A loss would not be ‘season-defining’

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne insists “there’s no way the season would be around” if Liverpool were to win Sunday’s major-of-the-table clash at Anfield.

City are trying to find a 3rd successive EPL League title but they have some floor to get well if they are to make it a hat-trick of domestic crowns.

The defending champions are 6 points behind pacesetters Liverpool ahead of Sunday’s meeting at Anfield.A victory would see City move up to next and within just a few points of the Reds, though defeat would depart them 9 points off the tempo and in fourth spot just after Leicester and Chelsea each won on Saturday.

De Bruyne appreciates a loss would put a big dent in his side’s title aspirations but he states even if they fall short to get a result on Merseyside they will not be out of contention.”If they had been to win, then the hole is large, but it really is not season-defining,” De Bruyne advised the club’s formal web site.”There is no way the season would be in excess of, you will find nevertheless so quite a few games just after with a great deal of points to play for, but certainly if you have a 9-point gap then they’d be very happy and for us there would be additional strain.”Chelsea and the Foxes have enjoyed fantastic begins to the season and both have to thought of as title contenders at this phase, with the two sides 5 points behind Liverpool.

De Bruyne refused to rule out either maintaining the pace and battling for EPL League glory but the Belgian global thinks that in the end the title race will occur down to a battle in between his side and the Reds, who he sees as City’s “most important danger”.City are unbeaten in 6 games across all competitions and are in search of a fourth EPL League win in a row, though Liverpool continue to be unbeaten in the league and have picked up 31 points from a possible 33 forward of Sunday’s big fixture at Anfield.

City hit humiliated Chelsea for six to go top

SergioAguero grabbed a hat-trick as Manchester Town scored four times inside oftwenty five minutes to thrash Chelsea 6- and leapfrog Liverpool again to top
place in the EPL League on goal variance on Sunday.

Aguero ought to have experienced even more than a few as the Argentine skipped a
wonderful early likelihood and hit the bar in the second-50 percent in a
humiliating afternoon for Maurizio Sarri’s men.

Raheem Sterling started out and finished the scoring and Ilkay Gundogan also
netted in the initially quarter of the game as City finished what could have
been a tests week with a vacation to Everton in between the visits of
Arsenal and Chelsea with optimum points.

Jurgen Klopp’s men keep the advantage of a game in hand, but
handed a reprieve by Liverpool’s attracts against Leicester and West Ham in
modern months, City glance established to develop into the initially aspect in a 10 years
to keep the EPL League.

Chelsea on the other hand slip to sixth with the scale of the defeat confident to increase further more doubts over Sarri’s potential.

A 4- defeat to Bournemouth in their past away game was Chelsea’s heaviest league defeat considering that 1996.

And this was their worst reduction in any levels of competition considering that 1991 following failing to recover from Sterling’s fourth-minute opener.

Eden Hazard went to sleep from Kevin de Bruyne’s swiftly taken
free-kick and Bernardo Silva experienced acres of room to cross for the England
international to fire home.

Pep Guardiola experienced described this match as a “ultimate” for his team
given that Chelsea experienced a week to get ready, while City floor out a 2-
win at Everton on Wednesday.

Guardiola fell to the ground in exasperation when Aguero in some way
aspect-footed extensive with his easiest likelihood of the game moments afterwards.

But the Catalan coach require not have nervous that would show a costly
miss as Aguero made amends in spectacular style by blasting into the top
corner from twenty five yards to double City’s following just thirteen minutes.

Aguero experienced a easy activity to make it 3- six minutes afterwards when he pounced on Ross Barkley’s slack header to his have goal.

And Gundogan’s shot from the edge of the area then experienced too a great deal electricity
for the world’s most high-priced goalie Kepa Arrizabalaga to compound
Chelsea’s woes.

These kinds of was the defensive collapse at the other end, Gonzalo Higuain experienced
small likelihood to glow but the Argentine attacker was unfortunate not to
score his third goal in as lots of league starts off for Chelsea when Ederson
turned over his dipping volley 5 minutes right before the crack.

That was as a great deal of a response as Chelsea mustered, nevertheless, and it
only obtained worse for Sarri’s odds of holding his career in the second
period of time.

Aguero skipped his initially likelihood to seal a second hat-trick in two games when he headed against the bar.

But when Sterling was too swift for Cesar Azpilicueta and chopped
down by the Spaniard inside of the area, Aguero coolly slotted home from
the spit kick place to shift level with Liverpool‘s Mohamed Salah as the
EPL League’s top scorer on seventeen for the season.

Even following Aguero went off to a standing ovation, City’s toughness in
depth shone by way of as Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez and David Silva came
off the bench.

And Silva’s pass opened the visitors up again for the sixth as he

Aguero hat-trick sinks Arsenal

Manchester City are now two points of EPL League leaders Liverpool many thanks to Sergio Aguero’s hat-trick in a three-one win over Arsenal on Sunday.

For the 2nd time in a 7 days, Aguero scored inside the initial minute to give City an excellent start.

However, just like in a shock defeat at Newcastle on Tuesday, the champions
unsuccessful to push home their advantage as Laurent Koscielny profited from
some slack defending to head home an equaliser just 10 minutes later.

Pep Guardiola’s men were being knocked out of their stride for most of the
remainder of the initial half, but retook the lead just a minute
in advance of the break when Ilkay Gundogan’s pleasant lofted pass teed up
Raheem Sterling to cross for Aguero to tap home.

The same two players merged for the Argentine to safe his tenth EPL League
hat-trick in controversial style as the ball came back off Aguero’s
arm in advance of rolling over the line just just after the hour mark.

A sixth consecutive away league game devoid of a win sees Arsenal slip down to
sixth behind Manchester United, who were being 1- victors at Leicester
before on Sunday, and three points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea in
the struggle for Champions League football next season.

Aguero has now scored 7 times in as quite a few games in 2019 to underline his
importance to City’s quest for silverware on 4 fronts.

The thirty-year-old capped a traveling get started from the hosts by steering home an
unstoppable header past Bernd Leno just fifty one seconds in just after Alex Iwobi
was caught in possession by Aymeric Laporte.

Moments later the ball was in the Arsenal net again, but this time Laporte was rightly flagged offside.

The Gunners experienced barely threatened in advance of levelling when Koscielny stooped minimal to head home Nacho Monreal’s flick-on.

City also led early on in defeats by Crystal Palace and Leicester in December and Koscielny’s equaliser shifted the mood and momentum of the game as the home facet feared the exact fate may even further hurt their title obstacle.

As an alternative, one particular excellent transfer swung the result
back in their favour. Sterling played a one particular-two with Gundogan in advance of volleying a magnificent, initial-time centre across the face of the net
for the unmarked Aguero to flip in at the far post.

In contrast, the next half was a stroll and City should have far more than just the one particular goal to display for their dominance.

Sterling was again the architect with a darting run into the area which left the
Arsenal defence in tatters in advance of he arrived at the by-line and crossed
for the sliding Aguero to steer the ball in via his arm.

Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Aguero again peppered Leno with effective
pictures that the German held out to maintain some respectability for
Arsenal.

But that is all they experienced to display for one more sorry away
efficiency that leaves their probabilities of avoiding a 3rd straight
season in the Europa League fading.

for the same team, both equally have performed the right thing, which is get a new
dwelling for their mothers who have set in a good deal of time and really like into
assisting them get wherever they are,” said Sterling.

We are focused on keeping our momentum going – Ederson

Manchester City first-choice goalkeeper, Ederson has stated that the only thing that himself and his teammates are focused on right now is keeping their momentum going.
City is Champions-elect in the Premier League as they are 16 points clear at the summit. They defeated Arsenal in the EFL Cup final two weeks ago to claim the trophy and have also thrashed Basel 4-0 in the first leg of their Round of 16 clash in the Champions League.
There are talks of a possible treble at the end of the campaign for Guardiola’s exceptional side from every corner. Ederson has, however, called for calm insisting that they will only celebrate at the end when they have won and not now.

While speaking with City’s official website, the Brazilian said: “The players are very calm, and all we’re thinking of is to keep doing our best, keep our concentration and the momentum going.”

Chelsea’s display today is a crime against football

Chelsea’s display today is a crime against football

Pep Guardiola’s champions-elect were as magnificent as they have been all season against Chelsea today in a performance that pundit, Jamie Redknapp described as a crime against football for the Blues.
Manager, Antonio Conte‘s decision to not start with a recognized striker boomeranged as the Blues had to deal with having to play without their midfield talisman, N’Golo Kante, they failed to register a single effort on target and had just 29 percent of possession.
Redknapp was left flattened with the display from the current champions in the 1-0 loss, who are now five points off fourth-placed Tottenham with nine Premier League games left.
“That was anti-football, it was a crime against football what they did today,” he told Sky Sports.
“I feel strongly about it. I was looking forward to watching this game today. I understand not playing with a striker and being difficult to beat, but you must have some intent. They’ve got good players – it was like they didn’t want to go forward at all.
Manchester City didn’t even have to be that good, Chelsea didn’t want to play. The manager must have put it in their minds to sit back. They are better than that. Although Pep Guardiola was celebrating – he must have thought that was a waste of time.

“Chelsea should have given them the three points before the game started.”
The result leaves Guardiola needing to win only four more games to take the Premier League title away from the current champions for his first league win in England.
City has been beaten by only Liverpool this season and Redknapp was astonished that Chelsea didn’t follow Jurgen Klopp’s blueprint.
“City have lost one game this season against Liverpool, who played with energy, they got after them, they pressed them high and won the ball in the final third,” he said.
“Don’t tell me the front three of Chelsea isn’t as good as Liverpool’s? There’s not too much to choose between the two.
“The Chelsea front three will be thinking ‘I’m better than that’ – players will then start talking about the tactics. Why didn’t Chelsea try and follow Liverpool‘s template rather than sitting back?”

Former Manchester City midfielder Joey Barton affirms that Pep Guardiola has built the best side in World football with the current crop of players.
The Citizens are well on course to claim the quadruple this season as they are 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League, still in the FA Cup, dismantled Basel in last night’s Champions League knock-out 1st leg and through to the final of the EFL Cup where they will tackle the Gunners next weekend.
Barton, who is an ex-city player after featuring for the side between 2002 and 2007 believes that his former club is the team to beat this season.
While speaking with Omnisport, he said: “Yeah no doubt about it. I think they’re the best team in world football, at this moment in time, there’s no better team in world football than them.”
“They’re going to have the league wrapped up here in the next 10 games, eight games. I think they’ll have it done with a couple of games to spare. They’re on for the quadruple at this moment in time.
“I watched them live on Saturday [in a 5-1 victory over Leicester City], it’s going to be a good team that’s going to stop them. There are some good teams in Europe and there are some big hurdles for them to overcome but I think they’ve still got a couple of gears to find.
“When they find them… they’re going to have players coming back from injury soon – Sane, Gabriel [Jesus], David Silva. I think they’re going to go on again and for me, they’re the best side at this moment in time in world football, but I still think they’ve got to go and show that big-game experience.”

“They play more between each other, have more passes. It is always a strong team. Just two seasons ago they were the champions and apart from two or three players they are the same.
“They are still dangerous with [Jamie] Vardy, with [Marc] Albrighton, with Mahrez, with Okazaki. We know Kelechi is so dangerous in the box.”

Guardiola rues missed chances

Guardiola rues missed chances as City were forced to a draw at Burnley

Manchester City Manager, Pep Guardiola has been left frustrated after his team were pegged back to a 1-1 draw due to a host of missed chances by the Citizen’s attack.

Former Real Madrid defender, Danilo scored a beauty in the first half to give the League leaders the lead at Turf Moor but they were denied a fifth straight victory as a result of their wastefulness after Johann Berg Gudmundsson pulled back an equalizer in the last minutes.

The former Bayern Munich Manager while speaking in his post-match conference said: “We played so good, we just missed the last moment to try to score the second one and playing away in the Premier League, in the last 10 minutes anything can happen.

“I’m so happy for the performance, it was outstanding overall”.

England International, Raheem Sterling was glaringly wasteful as he had an unbelievable chance among other half chances to secure the game for the leaders which he all missed. Guardiola however added that: “Anything can happen in football – next game he is going to score.

“Ederson made two good saves, really good. But it was not the key point for dropping two points.

“Danilo scored a fantastic goal, he has the talent to score this kind of goal.”

Club skipper, Vincent Kompany when asked for his comments after the disappointing game said: “We never doubted this league was competitive. We were warned for this kind of situation.

“We knew we would have to take our chances. We created some chances in an incredible manner but we probably ran out of steam because we kept trying and trying and trying, and in the end, we got punished. But we don’t have to feel sad because our performance was good.

“Raheem Sterling has been incredible for us. He’s scored more last-minute goals for us than anyone in this league. But today it didn’t quite happen. But I give top marks to everyone for the way they handled this game.

“There’s one thing you know when you play Burnley, they’re well-organized and well-disciplined. I thought we handled every game against Burnley so far well.

“Today they got what they fought for. They got a goal in the last 10 minutes and never stopped believing. We have to make sure we finish games a little earlier next time.”

Title race isn’t over – Guardiola

High-flying Manchester City Manager, Pep Guardiola has responded to rival, Jose Mourinho’s claim that the race for the League title is over after his side suffered an embarrassing 2-0 defeat to Spurs during the week.
The Citizens only need to come out victorious in eight more matches to be crowned as Champions of England and they could lift the title if they win their clash with Mourinho’s team Manchester United on April 7.
The legendary Portuguese Manager concluded that City’s 15-point lead in February implies that the race is over as it is impossible to catch up and the best his team can do is to claim the second place.
However, the former Barcelona Boss has dismissed such declarations, stating that the league is still long from being won.
“Not yet (it’s not over),” he said. “There are 13 games, 39 points to play, a 15-point lead, so it’s not over.
“We have an amazing run of games to play.
“We can’t deny how complicated games with Burnley, Stoke, Goodison, Arsenal, Tottenham, United and Chelsea will be. Definitely, it’s not over.”
City could extend their lead at the top to 18 points with a victory over Burnley in their early kickoff game on Saturday before second-placed United face Huddersfield later in the day.
According to Mourinho, he said: “We have to try to finish second.
“We are in this position all season – we were first for a few weeks and then we were always second.
“We are better than last season in every aspect – points, position, a number of goals scored, conceded so we have to try to stay there.
“The fight is open for second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth, but is practically closed for the first.”

Newcastle step up interest in Mangala

Pqremier League side, Newcastle have reportedly stepped up their interest in Manchester City defender, Eliaquim Mangala as the end of transfer window draws closer.

The French International has been kept on the bench for the majority of his 3years at the Etihad stadium after completing a £32 million transfer from FC Porto in 2014.

He had some game time in 2015/16 Premier League season but performed below standard and has since then struggled to get a consistent run of matches after returning from his loan to Valencia in 2017/18.

He featured in 30 league games for the Spanish side in 2016/17, it was expected that he will be signed permanently but somehow, he found himself in Manchester again where his future is now under serious threats.

Injuries to former Everton defender, John Stones and Club captain, Vincent Kompany at different times two seasons ago saw him return to the starting line-up for some games although his inconsistency and repeating errors led to loud disinterest in him from the club fans.

With the arrival of new signing Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao and Argentine, Nicolas Otamendi alongside regular starter John Stones and Vincent Kompany at the center of City’s defense, it is evident that the competition for places will be even tougher and it is most likely the 26-year old will be shipped off to another club.

Newcastle seemed to be in a pole position to capitalize on the several options of City but we are yet to be sure if this will materialize before the end of the transfer window in few hours.

Mahrez hands transfer request to Leicester amid £50m interest from Manchester City

Former PFA Player of the season, Riyad Mahrez has submitted a transfer request amid reports that he is a target for League leaders, Manchester City for £50million.

City had earlier completed the deal to sign Athletic Bilbao defender, Aymeric Laporte after the French International has joined the club for a record fee of £57million.

Based on various reports about transfers which will be concluded in less than 48hours, the Citizens are keen on bringing the 26-year old to Etihad even if the price is higher than the £50million reportedly offered.

Leicester City Manager, Claude Puel has stated earlier this month that his highly prized possession is worth about double the price.

“Perhaps; maybe in the summer he will cost even more than £100m,” said Puel.

“It’s just rumors, noise about him. We can see Riyad smile, enjoying his football, enjoying to play with his team-mates.”

The former EPL Champions denied the Algerian International a move to Italy to join Roma last summer even with three bids that were offered after the player similarly handed in a transfer request.

City lost Sane to an ankle injury a few days ago after a reckless tackle by Joseph Bennett in their 2-0 victory over Cardiff City in the FA Cup and Mahrez would be an ideal replacement for the German.

After a busy transfer day shadowed with the imminent announcement of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang as a Gunner, City has also concluded the signing of New York City midfielder, Jack Harrison on a three-and-a-half-year deal although he will be going on loan immediately to Middlesbrough until the end of the season.

Guardiola left furious after Leroy Sane Injury

Manchester City Manager, Pep Guardiola has angrily lashed out at referees to do their job and protect attacking players after Leroy Sane suffered an ugly injury in City’s FA Cup win at Cardiff City.
His Manchester City league-leading side eased past the Welsh side with a 2-0 victory, a game that was outrightly dominated by the Citizens. However, there was a low point in the game for the former Barcelona Manager.
During his post-match press conference. Guardiola confirmed that the German forward could be out of action for up to a month. He said: “For football general players are the artists. The only thing they can do is protect them,”
“Referees have to protect, not just mine, all players. Sane will be out for a while. Maybe two or three weeks, or a month, we will see tomorrow. It’s his ankle.
“I know my players because it’s not just one, there was many. They decided to play in that way. There is one man who has to decide what is correct and what is incorrect. If he doesn’t anything can happen.”
As a result of this, Sane could be unavailable for Premier League games against West Bromwich Albion, Burnley, and Leicester, and he will also be considered a doubt for their Champions League Round of 16 first-leg clashes at Basel on February 13.
The 22-year old was fouled late in the first half by Joseph Bennett after he [Sane] picked up the ball from his own half, ran at full speed and was on course to be through into Cardiff’s penalty box. The severity of the challenge was unclear at first but replays showed the extent of the tackle which got Sane to be replaced.
The 27-year old Bennett was later shown his marching orders after another hard tackle on Brahim Diaz.

After missing out on Virgil van Dijk who joined Liverpool and former Arsenal star, Alexis Sanchez in this transfer window, Manager Pep Guardiola will be delighted with this move which will serve as a defensive reinforcement with persistent injury concerns over captain, Vincent Kompany.
Laporte, who is yet to win a full cap for France but has featured in over 150 games for the Spanish side, Athletic Bilbao since making his impressive debut in 2012 can also play on the left side of the defence. He is earmarked to be a long-term defensive partner with former Everton defender, John Stones while also being able to fill in at left-back.
The Citizen, unfortunately, the lost summer signing, Benjamin Mendy to a ruptured anterior cruciate earlier in the season and Fabian Delph has been required to fill in with Danilo looking very uncomfortable in the position.
Although City was also linked with West Brom’s captain, Jonny Evans. That deal is now unlikely to happen with Laporte set to become City’s record signing. His deal will cost City £2m more than the amount paid for Kevin de Bruyne in 2015. The Belgium midfielder signed a new contract this week that will see him stay at the Etihad until 2023.
During his press conference earlier in the day, Guardiola was silent about his forthcoming signing. “He’s a player for Bilbao. It’s the same as other players in the clubs, I didn’t speak about previous players. If it happens, it happens-. If not, then it doesn’t,” he said.

Kevin De Bruyne signs new five-year deal at Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne, who is arguably the best player in the Premier League so far, this season has signed a new five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium.
The former Chelsea player joined City from the German side, Wolfsburg in 2015. He has now committed himself to a long-term agreement with the Citizen which will see him stay until 2023.
While speaking to the club official website after the new deal was completed, De Bruyne said: “I am really happy to have signed this new deal,”
The 26-year-old has been in a remarkable form this season, contributing 10 assists and six goals in the Premier League to ensure City open up a massive 12-point gap at the top of the table.
He endured a torrid time at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho when his talent and quality was questioned, he has since then gone on to establish himself as a regular in Guardiola’s City after a similarly successful stint in Germany.
“As I’ve said previously, my intention has always been to stay here at City, where I’ve felt at home from day one,” De Bruyne added.
“Not only are we winning – we are playing great football. It’s a pleasure to be a part of and I’m really excited about what we can achieve in the coming years.”
The news of De Bruyne’s contract extension was officially announced at about the same time neighbours, Manchester United confirmed the signing of Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, who had been a major target for Guardiola’s side.

Bonucci is not for sale – Mirabelli

Reports in England has stated that Manchester City and Chelsea [now managed by former Bonucci’s Manager at Juventus, Antonio Conte] are interested in the securing the service of the former Juventus defender but AC Milan director of sports, Massimiliano Mirabelli has insisted that he [Bonucci] is not for sale while speaking with Gr Parlamento on Monday afternoon.

“He [Bonucci] is not for sale”, Mirabelli said.

“We signed many players last summer and we don’t want to lose them. We made several sacrifices to sign them and we are aware that a team can’t be built in a single transfer window. We are a very young squad. The transfer window is also made by new contracts just think of Cutrone, Donnarumma, and Calabria.”

“We went through a tough moment but the new year began pretty well. We are improving and players are fit now. Bonucci did struggle at the end of the season, but everybody did. We didn’t spend too much to sign him compared to other players.”

Guardiola understands his striker’s frustration

Manchester City Manager, Pep Guardiola has explained that he totally understands star-striker, Sergio Aguero’s frustrations seeing that his playing time has significantly reduced.

As he labelled the former Atletico Madrid striker a Legend, Aguero showcased his individual brilliance on Saturday to help City past Bournemouth by 4-0 to get their 17th successive Premier League win.

The Argentine got his first goal of the game just before the half-hour mark with a slouching header, before doubling the Citizens’ lead in the second half. In-form England forward, Raheem Sterling and summer signing from Real Madrid, Danilo were also on the scoresheet.

His stellar performance will do well to remind Pep Guardiola of what he could lose if the City record highest goal scorer decides to leave as there are reports of his growing frustration with his limited opportunity.

Guardiola, however, applauded Aguero’s display, before confirming that he understands Aguero, as well as some other players, might be annoyed.

“He is a special player, there’s no doubt about that,” Guardiola is quoted as saying by the club’s official website.

“He’s a legend and I am so happy when he plays good and he is scoring goals.

“I was a football player. I understand the players in that when they are substituted and don’t play, they are sad and upset.

“I understand our job is to try and search to find a weakness, but I try to have the best relationship with my players as possible.

“Sometimes, I think Gabriel Jesus deserves to play – and Bernardo Silva and Eliaquim Mangala. The important thing is that they have respect for each other.

“If they are not happy with me, that is not a problem, but they have an amazing relationship between them. The locker room is a dream and to play with them and train with them.

“I have a lot of respect for Sergio Aguero and all he has done, what he does and what he will do in the future.

“He will decide everything about his future and his life. I am so happy to have him here with Gabriel Jesus and the squad.”

Guardiola prepares £50 million to bring Busquets to Etihad

Barcelona midfielder, Sergio Busquets has been repeatedly linked with his former Manager, Pep Guardiola and is reported to be interested in joining him at the Etihad in a deal which could be in the tune of £50 million.

The 30-year old, who rose to prominence under Guardiola is believed to be one of the major additions the former Bayern Munich Manager aims to bring to his high flying Manchester City side.

Busquets is a typical Guardiola player with his intelligent passing, fantastic technique and impressive positional play, he is certainly one of the best in the world in his position.

According to reports from Don Balon, The Catalan club might not be interested in releasing their long-serving veteran especially not for such amount although they are concerned about the relationship Guardiola has with the player.

Manchester City has been in their blistering best this season as they have won 16 straight games in the league to seal their place in Premier League history for the most consecutive victories in a football season.

Manchester City way better than Tottenham – Ferdinand

Manchester United Legend, Rio Ferdinand says Tottenham Manager, Mauricio Pochettino must admit that Manchester City is way ahead of his team as they were well beaten at the Etihad on Saturday.

The victory consolidated City’s wide lead at the top of the table and it also extended their winning streak to 16games in a row.

Spurs committed too many mistakes and they were duly punished for it by a rampant City side in a very entertaining affair. The loss now ensures Tottenham has an uphill task to be in the top four again as they stand in the 7th position with Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Burnley and Liverpool all positioned ahead of them.

Ferdinand said. “Sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say they are on another level. It’s easier to take defeat when you know you were outplayed on every level”

“You accept that and move on, but it’s a disheartening thing for the rest of the league”

Gaudiola Believes In Honest Football

Man City believes in “honest” football – Guardiola

Manchester City Manager, Pep Guardiola paid little attention to critics’ comments about his side playing dishonestly, a tactic they believe helped them to another victory over Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

To Guardiola, Manchester City won because they play the most fantastic football in the league as they controlled the majority of possession on Sunday evening. He was quick to remember the last time Mourinho complained about a referee error in his previous defeat to Guardiola and asserted that City won because of that, but Guardiola dismissed that.

The former Barcelona handler said his players often stay longer on their feet after been fouled than they ought to- although many people will disagree with that claim after Gabriel Jesus’ dive.

“Last season, it was the same-we won here and it was the referee. Today as well – Guardiola commented.

“Yesterday he spoke about the referee; we are an honest team. We had 75 percent ball possession, which means we wanted to play.”

“We came here and did that, it is not true that my players go down easily. That is not an argument I believe.”
