Former Manchester United defender Gary Pallister reckons Ivorian Eric Bailly and centre-back partner Phil Jones will face a major test in their match at Liverpool later today.

The Red Devils have enjoyed a strong start to the 2017/18 season, but have yet to face a testing opponent. That is set to change early this afternoon when they come up against Jurgen Klopp’s side at Anfield.

Bailly and Jones have generally been the preferred centre-back pairing for manager Jose Mourinho and they are expected to anchor the defence against the Reds, where they have to be in top form, according to Pallister.

“There were big question marks over Phil Jones over the last couple of years with injuries and his form and I think he has come back to his critics with his form this year,” Pallister told betsafe.com.

“He has been one of our best players at the start of this season, it is terrific to he him recapture his form from when he came to Old Trafford.

“Bailly loves to defend and maybe even a mould of [Nemanja] Vidic or a Steve Bruce, he is aggressive.

“He loves to defend and if I was a centre-half then I would love to play with a guy like him so I think defensively we have been pretty sound.

“We are scoring goals quite freely but we have not had a massive test, we expected more from Everton.

Liverpool is a massive test for this team, we no doubt look a better team than we did but this is a different level.”

Kick-off in the Liverpool-United match will be at 13h30 CAT.

Former Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o is eager to coach Italian giants Inter Milan.

This is according to the 36-year-old striker’s close adviser George Gardi, who also stated that Eto’o wants to ply his trade in the U.S.A.

Eto’o currently plays for Turkish Super Lig side Antalyaspor where he has scored close to 40 goals since joining the club at the beginning of the 2015/16 season.

The former Chelsea FC, Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona marksman is eager to play in the Major League Soccer (MSL) like many other football legends.

“Samuel Eto’o has had two great seasons in Turkey, scoring 40 goals,” Gardi told The Sun.

“I don’t rule out the possibility of him renewing his contract for another season. Then he aims to finish his career in Major League Soccer.

“But once he has hung up his boots, he wants to become a coach. It is his desire to manage Inter Milan some day,” he concluded.

Eto’o played for Inter between 2009 and 2011, and he won the Serie A title, Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana, UEFA Champions League as well as the FIFA Club World Cup.

Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker was pleased with how they played against their Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

The forward’s solitary goal helped Chiefs defend the Carling Black Label Champion Cup at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.

“It was a boost for us on the field and I’m happy that we came out with a win,” Parker told SuperSport TV.

“With my frontline, we created a lot of chances, we tried to break quick and we did.

Amakhosi will be hoping to win one or two major trophies during the upcoming 2017/18 campaign.

“But as we got into the final third we can be a little bit more ruthless, just 10 percent more and we would come out with a lot of goals,” he added.

“But other than that, it’s a learning curve for us, we are looking good and looking solid. This year we want to achieve our goals.”

Chiefs have now won the pre-season tournament title three times, while Pirates have win lifted it four times.

Cameroon coach to make major changes for Colombia friendly – 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup

Hugo Broos has revealed that he will make major changes to his Cameroon line-up for their friendly clash against Colombia tonight.

The Indomitable Lions will take on the South Americans in Getafe at 20h30 CAT tonight, with the former using the match as preparation for the Confederations Cup.

Cameroon come into the game having defeated Morocco 1-0 in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier this past weekend, and Broos has explained that he will shuffle his pack for the match against Colombia.

“There will be a lot of changes – with regard to the victory over Morocco – because we played three matches in a week,” said Broos, who highlighted the importance of the friendly.

“It’s a different [kind of] football, so tomorrow [Tuesday], more than the result, what matters to me is to see how the team works.

“We do not have the experience of other years with players, that’s why this tournament is important to prepare for what comes.

“We will have very difficult matches in September and then the World Cup [in 2018] if we [qualify].

“For this group [of players] it will be very good to have that experience, because for me and for my team the Confederations is only a good experience.”

Cameroon will open their Confederations Cup campaign with a Group B clash against Chile on Sunday. They will also face Australia and Germany in the tournament in Russia.
