Morocco’s Adel Taarabt linked with Spanish move – 2018 FIFA World Cup

Genoa’s Moroccan midfielder Adel Taarabt has been linked with a move to Spain’s La Liga following his strong form this season.

The 28-year-old Atlas Lions player has been a standout figure for Genoa in Serie A, making 13 appearances (12 starts) and racking up two goals.

His efforts have mostly been in vain, with Genoa sitting just above the relegation zone after 14 rounds, but they have attracted attention from elsewhere in Europe.

Calcio Mercato reports that Taarabt is being closely monitored by Spanish giants Sevilla (amongst others), who are poised to make a move for the player at the end of the season.

The versatile attacking midfielder is currently on loan at Genoa from Portuguese side Benfica, and has also featured for Lens, Tottenham Hotspur, Queens Park Rangers, Fulham, Fulham and Milan in his club career.

Nigeria’s Shehu Abdullahi linked to Merseyside duo – 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers – Africa

Nigerian defender Shehu Abdullahi has been linked with Premier League duo Liverpool and Everton.

Abdullai, 24, plays for Cypriot club Anorthosis Famagusta and a source at his agent’s company has revealed growing transfer interest.

Uganda and Township Rollers midfielder Ivan Ntege has attracted interest in the South African Premier Soccer League, with Orlando Pirates keeping tabs on him.

According to media reports in Botswana, Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic a former Cranes mentor, is known to be a fan of the Ugandan international.

With Rollers open to listening to offers, the Botswana Premier League outfit could part ways with Ntege and Tshepo Matete who is linked with a move to AmaZulu.

Speaking to the Sunday Standard newspaper in Botswana, Rollers spokesperson Bafana Pheto says they are yet to receive offers regarding their duo.

“We are open to offers regarding any of our players and encourage our players to work hard to gain recognition in big leagues,” Pheto told Sunday Standard.

“We will not stand in any way of players if offers come forth but at the moment we have not heard anything formal but aware of such rumours,”

Although Pheto declined to divulge the duo’s worth in the transfer market, he insists they would hold discussions at management level to decide on the value of players.

Eddie Nketiah rose off the bench to great effect as Arsenal clinched a narrow 2-1 win over Norwich City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.

The 18-year-old, who was not even born when Arsene Wenger took aver as head coach at the Gunners, bagged a brace for the North London club as they sealed their place in the next round.

Nketiah scored with his first touch in the 85th minute to pull the sides level at the Emirates, before netting the winner in extra-time from a Mohamed Elneny corner-kick.

Leicester City’s Algerian striker Islam Slimani has been linked with a move to French Ligue 1 side’s Olympique Marseille and Monaco.

The Fennec Foxes star has been put up for sale by the club, though manager Craig Shakespeare has indicated that he would like to keep the player in his squad.

The Leicester boss saw Slimani score two goals in a League Cup clash last midweek and handed him a substitute appearance in their loss to Manchester United on Saturday.

However, Sky Sports claims that Monaco are ready to move for Slimani and will try to land the player should they sell Paris Saint-Germain target Kylian Mbappe.

Marseille are also interested in the Algerian striker, who was the subject of a failed €14m offer by Watford last weekend.

Slimani will turn his focus to international football this week, with the player included in Algeria’s squad for 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Zambia.

Swansea City are reportedly hoping to re-sign Ivory Coast attacker Wilfried Bony from Manchester City.

The Mirror reports that Swansea are keen on a cut-price deal for the Elephants striker, who is unwanted at the Citizens.

Bony, 28, joined Stoke City on loan last season but struggled to establish himself under coach Mark Hughes and spent most of the second half of the campaign in limbo.

He has since returned to parent club Man City, but is not part of coach Pep Guardiola’s plans for the 2017/18 season.

This has led to Swansea’s interest, with the Welsh club hoping to sign Bony on the cheap and bring him back to the Liberty Stadium.

The Ivorian enjoyed a prolific spell at the Swans from 2013 to 2015, before signing for Man City in a £30million transfer.

Bony has also been linked with a move to Italian side Sampdoria, with the player reportedly valued at £13million by City.

Former Polokwane City head coach Luc Eymael has been contacted by the Uganda Football Association (FUFA) regarding the country’s head coaching position, according to KickOff.com.

With reports persisting that Milutin Sredojevic will return to Orlando Pirates in coming weeks, the Cranes have started their search for ‘Micho’s replacement with Eymael revealing that he is in line for the job.

Eymael, who is not afraid to speak his mind, told the South African publication that his CV is with FUFA as they contemplate life after the coach that guided them to a first AFCON appearance in 38 years.

MILUTIN SREDOJEVIC SECRETLY LEFT UGANDA FOR SA

“They [FUFA] already contacted me yesterday [Wednesday], in case of separation with ‘Micho’ [Sredojevic],” Eymael told KickOff.com. “[But] it’s not yet done with ‘Micho’.”

“If they asked for my file [CV], it is for that [head coach] and not to pump balls,” he continued. “I can’t say more than what I just told you – Micho’s separation is not yet finalised with Fufa.

“My file is there, like I told you. It seems they are interested, but I can’t say more now.”

Algeria’s Aissa Mandi linked with move to Rennes – 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers

Algerian international Aissa Mandi has been linked with a move to Stade Rennais, where he could reunite with Christian Gourcuff.

L’Equipe reports that former Algerian national team coach Gourcuff has made the 25-year-old Mandi one of his transfer targets ahead of the 2017/18 season.

Mandi, who was born in France but has represented the Fennec Foxes since 2014 and played for them at the World Cup and two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, is currently on the books of Spanish side Real Betis.

He joined Betis on a five-year deal in June 2016, having previously played for French side Stade de Reims. Mandi enjoyed a solid first season in La Liga, appearing in 26 matches and contributing two goals.

Rennes already has three Algerian players on its books: Mehdi Zeffane, Ramy Bensebaini and Rais M’Bohli.

Huddersfield linked with Ghana’s Rahman – 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers – Africa

Chelsea’s Ghanaian left-back Baba Rahman has been linked with a move to Premier League newcomers Huddersfield Town.

The 23-year-old Black Stars player joined Chelsea from Augsburg in 2015, but struggled to establish himself as a regular.

Rahman then joined Schalke 04 on a season-long loan deal in 2016 and impressed in the Bundesliga and European competitions.

However, his campaign in Gelsenkirchen was cut short when he picked up a serious knee injury at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and returned to Chelsea for rehabilitation.

There have been rumours that the player will return for another loan spell at Schalke, while the likes of Newcastle United, Everton and Bournemouth have also been linked with Rahman.
