Mahrez in a superb mood since returning to the squad – Puel

Leicester Manager, Claude Puel has mentioned to reporters that Algeria International, Riyad Mahrez has been training in a superb mood since returning from exile.
The 26-year old was a major subject of a contest between his club and League leaders, Manchester City during this last transfer window as City persisted on signing him on the transfer deadline day.
A reported £60million bid was turned down by Leicester as they preferred to hold on to their highly prized asset who has been in an incredible form this season, scoring eight goals and creating another seven in the league.
In the aftermath of events, the forward who was obviously angered by his club’s decision decided to abscond from training sessions. An action which saw him miss two league games.
He later returned after 12 days to be included in the team squad that lost 5-1 to City last weekend and it is expected that he will make his first start since January 20 this weekend in the FA Cup clash with Sheffield United.
“Yeah, I think better,” the French Manager said when asked if Mahrez was back to his normal level.
“He enjoys playing and training with his team-mates. He is at a good level and without problems.
“I think it is important now to put an end to the talking about Riyad. He has come back, he came in against Manchester City. Now we need to move on and for him, he has to kick on.
“The most important thing now is the future.”
He is also confident that he will be well received by the club fans considering his open rebel last month.
“I think it was good reception when he came on against Man City,” Puel added. “I think the fans understand the difficulties to manage this period.
“We have stayed united. It is important now, together, to look forward.”

Guardiola talks up relationship with Mahrez

Guardiola talks up relationship with Mahrez, Puel ahead of weekend clash

Manchester City Manager, Pep Guardiola has spoken about his relationship with the player he tried to sign on the transfer deadline day, Riyad Mahrez ahead of his side’s clash with Leicester.
The former PFA player of the season has refused to show up in training for the past nine days since Leicester Management denied his potential move to Etihad.
He was depressed after failing to secure a move away from the Foxes again despite turning in his transfer request. Leicester Manager, Claude Puel however, claim that the Algerian might not feature in the game against the League leaders despite returning to training.
Guardiola believes that the player should have done better in handling the situation even as he affirms that they were really keen on signing him in January.
He said: “Hopefully he will play, I want him to come back soon and play, we enjoy watching him and hopefully he’ll come back as soon as possible with Leicester and play at his level.”
He went ahead to speak of his relationship with the Leicester Manager
“I met him when I was at Barcelona and he was at Lyon,” he said.
“He’s an experienced manager, he did really well at Southampton, Leicester still has the fundamentals from a long time ago that helped them to be champions but he has introduced something else.
“They play more between each other, have more passes. It is always a strong team. Just two seasons ago they were the champions and apart from two or three players they are the same.
“They are still dangerous with [Jamie] Vardy, with [Marc] Albrighton, with Mahrez, with Okazaki. We know Kelechi is so dangerous in the box.”
“We will do everything to stop them although I know it will be tough” The former Barcelona Manager concluded.

Ahmed Musa might stay in England

Reports have stated that Leicester City forward, Ahmed Musa might not leave England during the course of this transfer window despite news of Bursaspor interest.

The Nigerian International, who was in a great form when he signed for Leicester a few seasons ago has endured a difficult period lately as he hasn’t featured in the Leicester’s starting XI in the league in a long time.

Reports emanating yesterday linked the unhappy forward to Turkish side, Bursaspor on a loan deal although the player’s agent, Tony Harris has dismissed such reports and affirm that Musa will stay in England.

While speaking with SuperSport: he said, “We have indeed been approached by the top three clubs in Turkey but Musa is not keen to go to Turkey just yet.”

“There’s a big chance that Musa will remain in England.”

“I’m however surprised about the link to Bursaspor. I don’t know where the rumor came from.”

“It’s a complete joke and a figment of someone’s imagination. Rest assured Musa is not going to Bursaspor,”

We are yet to be certain if this implies that Musa, who only signed a new contract 18 months ago will remain in Leicester or seek first-team football elsewhere in England.

Hasan Parlakay, who is a representative at Bursaspor while speaking with the Media yesterday was quoted that a loan deal is possible

He said: “If we are realistic, we cannot buy him.

“But he wants to play with Nigeria in the World Cup. For this, you have to keep playing and keep form in the league.

“Wearing the Bursaspor shirt on loan until the end of the year is an attractive offer. We hope to give good news in the coming days.”

Ex-England international midfielder Danny Murphy believes Algerian international winger Riyad Mahrez must join Tottenham Hotspur.

Murphy has told Match of the Day, which was broadcast on November 30, that the Lily Whites need to sign a player like Mahrez.

The Leicester City attacker featured on the wing for the Foxes during their 2-1 triumph over Mauricio Pochettino’s men on Tuesday.

Mahrez cut inside and took aim, before curling the ball beyond goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to score his side’s second goal of the match.

“He’d suit Tottenham. They need someone like him,” Murphy said.

“They need someone who can add a bit of dynamism to their team.”

Pochettino’s side have now failed to beat West Bromwich Albion and Leicester in their last two fixtures, and have slipped down to seventh place in the English Premier League table.

On the other hand, Mahrez will want to help the Foxes claim the three points when they meet Burnley at home on Saturday.
