Aguero hat-trick sinks Arsenal

Manchester City are now two points of EPL League leaders Liverpool many thanks to Sergio Aguero’s hat-trick in a three-one win over Arsenal on Sunday.

For the 2nd time in a 7 days, Aguero scored inside the initial minute to give City an excellent start.

However, just like in a shock defeat at Newcastle on Tuesday, the champions
unsuccessful to push home their advantage as Laurent Koscielny profited from
some slack defending to head home an equaliser just 10 minutes later.

Pep Guardiola’s men were being knocked out of their stride for most of the
remainder of the initial half, but retook the lead just a minute
in advance of the break when Ilkay Gundogan’s pleasant lofted pass teed up
Raheem Sterling to cross for Aguero to tap home.

The same two players merged for the Argentine to safe his tenth EPL League
hat-trick in controversial style as the ball came back off Aguero’s
arm in advance of rolling over the line just just after the hour mark.

A sixth consecutive away league game devoid of a win sees Arsenal slip down to
sixth behind Manchester United, who were being 1- victors at Leicester
before on Sunday, and three points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea in
the struggle for Champions League football next season.

Aguero has now scored 7 times in as quite a few games in 2019 to underline his
importance to City’s quest for silverware on 4 fronts.

The thirty-year-old capped a traveling get started from the hosts by steering home an
unstoppable header past Bernd Leno just fifty one seconds in just after Alex Iwobi
was caught in possession by Aymeric Laporte.

Moments later the ball was in the Arsenal net again, but this time Laporte was rightly flagged offside.

The Gunners experienced barely threatened in advance of levelling when Koscielny stooped minimal to head home Nacho Monreal’s flick-on.

City also led early on in defeats by Crystal Palace and Leicester in December and Koscielny’s equaliser shifted the mood and momentum of the game as the home facet feared the exact fate may even further hurt their title obstacle.

As an alternative, one particular excellent transfer swung the result
back in their favour. Sterling played a one particular-two with Gundogan in advance of volleying a magnificent, initial-time centre across the face of the net
for the unmarked Aguero to flip in at the far post.

In contrast, the next half was a stroll and City should have far more than just the one particular goal to display for their dominance.

Sterling was again the architect with a darting run into the area which left the
Arsenal defence in tatters in advance of he arrived at the by-line and crossed
for the sliding Aguero to steer the ball in via his arm.

Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Aguero again peppered Leno with effective
pictures that the German held out to maintain some respectability for
Arsenal.

But that is all they experienced to display for one more sorry away
efficiency that leaves their probabilities of avoiding a 3rd straight
season in the Europa League fading.

A hat-trick from Khalid Boutaib ended Gabon’s dreams of reaching the 2018 World Cup in Russia after losing 3-0 to Morocco in a Group C qualifier at the Stade Mohammed V on Saturday night.

The loss means Gabon, along with Mali who drew 0-0 with Cote d’Ivoire on Friday night, are unable to qualify for the showpiece next year.

In Casablanca on Saturday night, a superb individual performance from Khalid Boutaib saw him net a hat-trick as Morocco cruised to only their second win in the group.

The match itself started a little slowly with neither side creating any significant goal scoring chances in the opening half hour.

The deadlock was broken in the 38th minute when a clinical finish from Khalid Boutaib gave the home side the lead, 1-0.

Ten minutes into the second half Morocco doubled their lead when Khalid Boutaib found his second goal with a neat finish, 2-0.

The icing on the cake was Khalid Boutaib’s third goal in the 72nd minute which handed Morocco a comfortable 3-0 win.

Morocco will now face Cote d’Ivoire in their final 2018 World Cup qualifier in November with the winner of that match heading to the showpiece in Russia.

Gabon will take on Mali in a dead rubber, but pride will be on the line for both nations.

SuperSport United will chase a hat-trick of Absa Premiership victories when they face Chippa United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on 19 September 2017, kick-off at 19h30.

SuperSport claimed a second league victory in a row last midweek when late goals from Sifiso Myeni and Jeremy Brockie took them to a 2-0 home triumph over Platinum Stars. The Tshwane team has truly put their opening day defeat against derby rivals Mamelodi Sundowns well behind them.

Coach Eric Tinkler’s side may have one eye on the return leg of their CAF Confederation Cup tie against Zesco United of Zambia this coming weekend, but one wouldn’t bet against them racking up a third successive three-pointer in this match.

Chippa come into the clash on the back of a goalless draw away to Platinum Stars on September 16. It may not have been the most inspiring result or performance from the Eastern Cape side, but after the loss of Dan Malesela and the appointment of Teboho Moloi as caretaker coach, the Chilli Boys needed to go back to basics.

In head-to-head stats, SuperSport and Chippa have met in eight league matches since 2012/13. Matsatsantsa have claimed four wins compared to just one for the Chilli Boys, while three matches have finished in draws. The Tshwane side boasts an unbeaten home record against their Eastern Cape opponents, with two wins and two draws from four matches.

However, Chippa took four points off SuperSport last season, playing to a goalless draw in Tshwane in the first half of the campaign, before claiming a vital 3-0 home win – courtesy of a hat-trick from Rhulani Manzini – in the return game.

SuperSport’s line-up from their 2-0 win over Stars on September 12: Williams, Kekana, Daniels, Mashamaite, Boateng (Mnyamane 60’), Phala, Furman, Mokoena (Mbule 63’), Modiba, Wome (Myeni 76’), Brockie.

Chippa’s line-up from their 0-0 draw with Stars on September 16: Akpeyi, Macheke, Konqobe, Okwuosa, Mako, Mabaso, Zuke, Mayambela (Maphango 45’), Lentjies, Mbenyane (Sekola 54’), Mashego (Mdlinzo 81’).
