Guardiola suggests working in England is ‘dream come true’

Pep Guardiola reported running in England is a “desire come true” as he was honoured by a six-1 Premier League victory against Southampton.

The Manchester City manager was recognised for his side’s Premier League title previous season and the club are once more setting the pace this season, with 9 wins in eleven games.

Speaking at Sunday’s ceremony in Manchester, he reported: “I am privileged to be in this league in your place, in England.

“It is really incredible. It was a desire from a tiny boy for a young manager to appear in this article to your place and be a manager in this article. It is really a desire appear true.”

City gained 32 of their 38 games previous season, scoring a file 106 goals and amassing a file a hundred points.

“I want to share, of class, this award with the total Manchester City supporters and children because I know it can be a real spouse and children,” reported Guardiola.

“I know individuals say we have a whole lot of money. That’s true but inspite of that it can be incredible the individuals I am performing with and I am a lucky man to be in this team.

“Thank you so a lot to make me experience at home in Manchester.”

The 47-year-old also made light of his outfit for the night – the event’s costume code was lounge go well with and Guardiola recognized the award donning a relaxed major.

Pointing to his outfit, he added: “Absolutely everyone is so sophisticated with a go well with and tie and I came in this, with… I am a tiny little bit embarrassed, I am a disaster. I did not expect how vital this event was.”

We are focused on keeping our momentum going – Ederson

We are focused on keeping our momentum going – Ederson

Manchester City first-choice goalkeeper, Ederson has stated that the only thing that himself and his teammates are focused on right now is keeping their momentum going.
City is Champions-elect in the Premier League as they are 16 points clear at the summit. They defeated Arsenal in the EFL Cup final two weeks ago to claim the trophy and have also thrashed Basel 4-0 in the first leg of their Round of 16 clash in the Champions League.
There are talks of a possible treble at the end of the campaign for Guardiola’s exceptional side from every corner. Ederson has, however, called for calm insisting that they will only celebrate at the end when they have won and not now.

While speaking with City’s official website, the Brazilian said: “The players are very calm, and all we’re thinking of is to keep doing our best, keep our concentration and the momentum going.”
“We will only celebrate when we are champions and not before. We are focused on our next challenge now, the Champions League, but we can’t feel comfortable at all, we must always be careful and doubtful.”
“For us, the key is to keep on working hard to be focused like we have been doing this season, that’s how we get to win games.”
Ederson has been in a great form since completing his move to City from Benfica in the summer, taking Claudio Bravo’s place as the club’s number one shot stopper and going on to establish himself as one of the most consistent in the league – keeping 13 clean sheets along the way.
“I am feeling very well and the whole team too,” he added. “We are playing amazing football.”

Guardiola rues missed chances

Guardiola rues missed chances as City were forced to a draw at Burnley

Manchester City Manager, Pep Guardiola has been left frustrated after his team were pegged back to a 1-1 draw due to a host of missed chances by the Citizen’s attack.

Former Real Madrid defender, Danilo scored a beauty in the first half to give the League leaders the lead at Turf Moor but they were denied a fifth straight victory as a result of their wastefulness after Johann Berg Gudmundsson pulled back an equalizer in the last minutes.

The former Bayern Munich Manager while speaking in his post-match conference said: “We played so good, we just missed the last moment to try to score the second one and playing away in the Premier League, in the last 10 minutes anything can happen.

“I’m so happy for the performance, it was outstanding overall”.

England International, Raheem Sterling was glaringly wasteful as he had an unbelievable chance among other half chances to secure the game for the leaders which he all missed. Guardiola however added that: “Anything can happen in football – next game he is going to score.

“Ederson made two good saves, really good. But it was not the key point for dropping two points.

“Danilo scored a fantastic goal, he has the talent to score this kind of goal.”

Club skipper, Vincent Kompany when asked for his comments after the disappointing game said: “We never doubted this league was competitive. We were warned for this kind of situation.

“We knew we would have to take our chances. We created some chances in an incredible manner but we probably ran out of steam because we kept trying and trying and trying, and in the end, we got punished. But we don’t have to feel sad because our performance was good.

“Raheem Sterling has been incredible for us. He’s scored more last-minute goals for us than anyone in this league. But today it didn’t quite happen. But I give top marks to everyone for the way they handled this game.

“There’s one thing you know when you play Burnley, they’re well-organized and well-disciplined. I thought we handled every game against Burnley so far well.

“Today they got what they fought for. They got a goal in the last 10 minutes and never stopped believing. We have to make sure we finish games a little earlier next time.”

Manchester City are reportedly battling it out against Arsenal for the signature of Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez.

The Algerian has been a subject of speculation in recent times, with more clubs linked with the left-footed winger.

Media reports in Spain suggest that City manager, Pep Guardiola is reportedly an admirer of the tricky midfielder and is hopeful of adding more attacking talent to his squad.

Meanwhile, Mahrez has also been linked with moves to the Gunners and Chelsea, but insists he is ‘settled’ at King Power Stadium, despite an attempt to leave in the last transfer window.

To add fuel to the speculation, Guardiola was spotted chatting with the Desert Foxes international at the end of the Blues’ 2-0 victory over Leicester last weekend.

“Everyone knows that I had desires to leave, except that it did not happen. I do not want to think of the transfer window at the moment. We still have 12 games to play until January, so if I thought of the transfer window now, I will not play football anymore,” Mahrez recently told the Daily Star.

With his future remaining unclear, will Mahrez be tempted to join the title changing City and possibly add to his EPL gold medal?

Although media reports suggested that Egypt coach Hector Cuper was set to vacate his position as the Pharaohs mentor, he says he will stay put.

The Argentine manager led the North Africans to their first World Cup qualification after 28 years when they beat Congo 2-1 on Sunday.

Cuper confirmed that he’ll remain in his position at the 2018 FIFA World Cup unless the Egyptian Football Association appoints Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola.

Despite coming under fire for his defensive playing style, he also believes the coach’s perspective is different from that of the fans.

“I’m very happy in Egypt. I’m happy with the celebrations I saw after qualifying for the World Cup,” Cuper said after the game.

“We achieved our target at the end, which is qualifying for the World Cup. I know there is criticism over the playing style, but this is what I chose for the team and it has helped us achieve our dream.

“If someone sees the need to hire a new coach with an offensive style, then no problem, I’ll leave.

“I’ll guide Egypt in the World Cup, unless the Egyptian Football Association decide to appoint Guardiola.”

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure believes that they can win major trophies with the club’s head coach Pep Guardiola’s philosophy.

Guardiola, who enjoyed a lot of success with Spanish giants FC Barcelona and German outfit Bayern Munich, failed to win a major trophy in his first season with City.

Toure has stated that the current philosophy is similar to his time at Barca under the accomplished Spanish tactician.

“The mentality of the manager is playing good and winning — not just winning. We want the fans to enjoy it and we try to do our best. If we have to score more then we will score more,” Toure said on Kwesse Sports.

“At Barcelona I was used to playing like that. I’m a type of player with a lot of experience. I think I’m lucky because I used to play under Pep at Barcelona and I know what he wants.

“He was a brilliant midfielder and [City coach] Mikel Arteta as well, and those two have helped me a lot and given me a lot of confidence. I’m just there to enjoy it and win trophies and that is what I want,” he added.

The Citizens have been impressive during their pre-season matches and Toure is particularly pleased with their 3-0 victory over fellow English side West Ham United last week Friday.

“It’s good for the confidence, it’s good for the next game. The game we had against West Ham is the typical type of game we’re going to have usually in the Premier League and maybe in Europe,” he continued.

“I think we find a difficult opponent who close the line, they don’t attack, they don’t open and I think it was good training for that because the games we produced against Madrid and Tottenham were quite open.

“For us it was good to have good pressing and we found it a bit difficult because it was a long ball and the second ball was very important but I thought we had a good game,” Toure stressed.

“In the first half when we get the chance to score the goal I said I think they’re going to be open. But I think West Ham after the first goal, they stayed with the same system and it was difficult,” he explained.

“But I think it’s good we can learn and try to adapt to the way the opponent is playing and make the break.”

The 34-year-old and his City team-mates will take on Brighton and Hove Albion in their first 2017/18 English Premier League match on Saturday.

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has revealed that he expects striker Kelechi Iheanacho to leave the Etihad within the coming days.

Iheanacho, 20, has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League rivals Leicester City – the former Barcelona mentor has stated that a deal with the Foxes was edging ever closer.

“I think Kelechi leaves us in favour of Leicester,” Guardiola is quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News.

“I think so, but I do not want to say anything wrong either. We will see. If that does not happen, he will be part of the group.”

Moreover, Leicester City mentor Craig Shakespeare is hopeful that their pursuit of the Nigeria international forward will be completed, but admitted that all clubs were finding it difficult to complete deals:

“I’m hoping so, but I am like every other manager at the moment. I think we all find it frustrating but it is the current market,” he said.

“At the moment, of course, we are interested in players as most of the Premier League is, but you can see that clubs won’t really talk about it until they are over the line.”

According to reports, Iheanacho’s price tag could rise as high as £25 million. The former Taye Academy Owerri player as scored 21 goals in 64 games for the Sky Blues.

It was an honour to work with Iheanacho, says Guardiola

Kelechi Iheanacho scores for Manchester City

English Premier League (EPL) giants Manchester City are close to selling Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho.

This was confirmed by City manager Pep Guardiola when speaking to the media about the 20-year-old marksman.

EPL outfit Leicester City are believed to have agreed a transfer fee with Iheanacho’s current club.

”Kelechi is close to a move, it should be done in 10 days,” said Guardiola on Own Goal Nigeria.

“It is an honour to work with him. It’s not easy for him as he didn’t get a lot of chances (in the team), but his behaviour was good.

“Kelechi’s a young player. He needs to play at that age and that’s why he, and the club decided, it was best for him (to leave).”

Iheanacho battled for regular game time last season as Guardiola preferred Brazlian striker Gabriel Jesus and Argentine frontman Sergio Aguero ahead of him.

The talented forward went on to score 21 goals in 64 matches in all competitions after making his debut for the club in 2015.
