Want-away Algerian Riyad Mahrez has had to put up with some teasing from his Leicester City teammates, according to manager Craig Shakespeare.

The winger left the Fennec Foxes’ camp ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Zambia and headed to Paris to try and secure a move away from the King Power Stadium.

His efforts came to nothing, with the transfer window closing before he could sign with any potential suitors.

Shakespeare has admitted that Mahrez’s antics have left him at the mercy of some teasing in the Leicester dressing room.

“I had an idea of where he was but if you are asking me to pinpoint it I wouldn’t be able but I would have suggested he was at an airport somewhere,” said Shakespeare.

“I did try to call him but it was an international dialling tone and I wasn’t quite sure where he was.

“He had permission from the Algerian FA. When they go on international duty they (Algerian FA) have the duty of care.

“In a way I could understand what him and his advisors were doing.

“There has been some banter. He has taken a bit of a ribbing but he will brush it off.”

Aubameyang price and deadline set by BVB – 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang playing for Borussia Dortmund

Friday Jun 23, 2017. 08:00

A price and deadline for the sale of Gabon star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been set by German club Borussia Dortmund.

The Panthers attacker was the Bundesliga’s leading goal scorer with 31 strikes in 2016/17, but he is ready to leave BVB.

The likes of Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Premier League giants Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City have been linked with Aubameyang.

BILD reports that Dortmund have set the start of their preseason camp, which begins in late July, as the deadline for any transfer for the Gabonese star.

BVB chief Hans-Joachim Watzke confirmed: “We are listening. When a club makes a big financial offer we will consider it.”

That “big financial offer” will have to be at least €70 million for Dortmund to consider a sale. Otherwise, Aubameyang will stay, with his contract running to 2020.
