Odion Ighalo has confirmed that he will miss Nigeria’s upcoming matches against Algeria and Argentina due to injury.

The Chanchung Yatai striker was on Monday named in the Super Eagles’ squad for their final 2018 World Cup qualifier away to Algeria on November 10, followed by a friendly against Argentina in Russia four days later.

However, Ighalo suffered a knock to his knee in Changchun’s latest match over the weekend and is set to be sidelined for approximately two weeks.

“I suffered a knee sprain (ligament) in our last game against Chongqing Dangdai Lifan FC on Sunday, I was able to finish the game because I thought it wasn’t serious, then I started feeling pains after the game,” Ighalo is quoted by Allnigeriasoccer.com.

“I will be out of action for 10-15 days, I won’t be able to play against Algeria and Argentina.”

Ighalo has established himself as the leader of Nigeria’s attack through the World Cup qualifiers and scored the opening goal in the 4-0 win over Cameroon in September.

Coach Hector Cuper’s men have qualified for the World Cup in Russia for the first time since 1990 after beating Congo 2-1 a week ago, thanks to a brace from Mohamed Salah.

The EFA received an official request earlier from their counterparts in the UAE which was approved by Egypt’s head coach.

It is expected that Cuper will field the players who missed out on playing in the qualifiers during the team’s match against the Black Stars.

AC Milan are definitely interested in signing Borussia Dortmund’s Gabonese star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as confirmed by sports chief Massimiliano Mirabelli.

The Italian giants have made waves in the transfer market this European summer but want to top off their shopping with the acquisition of a big-name striker.

Mirabelli has held talks with the representatives of unwanted Chelsea striker Diego Costa and Aubameyang in recent weeks, while Fiorentina’s Nikola Kalinic is another notable name linked with Milan.

“If we are interested in Kalinic? Yes, but we are also interested in Diego Costa and Aubameyang!” stated Mirabelli.

“We need an advanced forward for this summer and we absolutely can not go wrong. Supporters have faith in us and we have to repay them.”

Aubameyang was the Bundesliga’s leading goal scorer last season, with 31 strikes in the German top flight.
