Kevin-Prince Boateng struggling with knee injury

Kevin-Prince Boateng has not been participating for Barcelona lately because of trouble with his knee.

The Ghana international caused fairly a stir in the January transfer window, signing for the Catalan facet as they looked to provide cover for Luis Suarez, who has many issues with his knees.

Eintracht Frankfurt forward Kevin-Prince Boateng is relishing the prospect of facing his former side, Borussia Dortmund this weekend.

Frankfurt are set to host Dortmund in a German Bundesliga encounter at the Commerzbank-Arena on Saturday.

“Definitely – I always enjoy playing against my former clubs,” Boateng told his club’s official website.

“I had a very good time at Dortmund. I’ll come face to face with a lot of old friends, so it’s going to be very emotional.

The Ghana international spent the second round of the 2008/09 season on a short-term loan deal at Dortmund from English side Tottenham Hotspur.

“I look forward to every game though, particularly at home. Everyone who has set foot in our stadium knows about the incredible atmosphere here,” he continued.

“The Frankfurt fans are exceptional. It’s going to be a great game on Saturday and I obviously hope we can get a positive result for our fans.”

“Obviously, Dortmund didn’t reach their full potential in their last two games, but we know exactly what we’re up against,” the 30-year-old explained.

“Overall I regard Dortmund as one of the strongest teams in Europe. They play the most attractive brand of football imaginable.

“I’m convinced we’ll be able to create chances against them, though.”

He has made eight league appearances for Frankfurt this season – netting once in the process.

Kevin-Prince Boateng has dedicated the goal he scored at the weekend for new club Eintracht Frankfurt to the brain-damaged Ajax player Abdelhak Nouri.

Boateng scored his first goal in the Bundesliga since 2014 to see Frankfurt claim a narrow 1-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

The former Black Stars man raised his jersey to reveal the number 34 and the word ‘Nouri’ printed on an undershirt, in dedication to the 20-year-old Dutch player.

Nouri was diagnosed with severe and permanent brain damage five days after he collapsed in July during a friendly against Werder Bremen in Austria.

“My celebration was for the little boy Nouri, because we all know what happened to him and I wanted to just show them that we pray for him and we pray for the family,” Boateng told the Bundesliga’s official website.

“He was an outstanding football player,” Boateng continued after the match, as reported by Bild. “This is a tragedy, and I want his family to know that I pray for him.

“I’ll wear the shirt under my jersey all season.”

Ghanaian attacker Kevin-Prince Boateng was largely responsible for Las Palmas’ acquisitions of Loic Remy and Alberto Aquilani, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

The former Black Stars man left the Spanish side to return to Germany in this European summer, signing a deal with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Yet before he left Las Palmas, where made a major impact as a player in the 2017/17 season, he was influential in convincing both Remy and Aquilani to sign for the La Liga club.

“His influence was huge. He told me I should not think twice,” Remy told Marca of Boateng in regards to his transfer from Chelsea to Las Palmas.

“He told me about the Island and how the people live here. I could have signed somewhere else, but I decided to go for Las Palmas with Boateng’s suggestion.”

Similarly, Aquilani said: “I am very grateful to him. His advice was the key that I am here.

“Boateng made no secret of the fact that he had enjoyed the time with the Spanish first division before moving to Germany.”

KP Boateng agrees three-year extension with Las Palmas

Ghana’s Kevin-Prince Boateng has agreed a three-year extension to his contract with Spanish La Liga side Las Palmas.

The former Black Stars attacker joined the club at the start of the current season on a one-year deal.

His impressive return of 10 goals and four assists in La Liga has seen the Yellows move quickly to secure a longer stay for the West African.

“UD Las Palmas have reached a renewal agreement with Kevin-Prince Boateng for the next three seasons,” the club announced on their website.

“The player will be linked to the yellow club until 2020.

“Prince, who has become the team’s top scorer in La Liga with 10 goals and arrived last summer at UD Las Palmas, will hold a press conference on Thursday at the El Hornillo Sports Complex (Telde) at the end of training of the first team.”

Las Palmas are sweating on the fitness of Ghanaian attacker Kevin-Prince Boateng ahead of their La Liga clash with Barcelona this weekend.

‘The Yellows’ will host Barca at Estadio de Gran Canaria on Sunday night for a match which could be crucial in the title race.

Yet the home side could be without Boateng, who suffered an injury in a heavy collision with teammate Mateo Garcia in training on Wednesday.

As a precautionary measure both players sat out the remainder of the session. Boateng suffered a contusional incisive wound in his right tibia and must pass a fitness test on the weekend.

Las Palmas will hope the former Black Stars player recovers in time – Boateng has been a key figure in their campaign, scoring 10 goals in 27 league appearances.
