Reading FC remain hopeful of signing Nigeria international Sone Aluko, who is currently on the books of Fulham FC.

English Championship outfit Fulham recently stated that they are aware of interest from other clubs in their hard-working frontman.

Reading, who are also in the English Championship, have since confirmed that they are keen to sign Aluko during the current Transfer Window.

However, Reading manager and head coach Jaap Stam doubts that Fulham would agree to sell one of their top players.

“Everybody knows what type of system Sone plays in at Fulham,” Stam told Reading Chronicle.

“If he was here he would fit in our style of play but I don’t know if we can agree a deal,” he added.

“I know his name has been mentioned, we would be very interested in bringing a player like him in, but I don’t know if it can happen.”

Aluko played the entire match as Fulham drew 1-1 with Norwich City in their first league of the 2017/18 season in London on Saturday.

The 28-year-old striker will be hoping to make the Nigeria squad for the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.

English Championship side Fulham are eager to retain the service services of Nigeria international Sone Aluko ahead of the new campaign.

The Cottagers have confirmed that they have already rejected multiple bids for the striker from an unnamed club.

Fulham head coach Slavisa Jokanovic wants the 28-year-old marksman to stay with the club as they prepare for the 2017/18 season.

“All I can do is fight,” Jokanovic told BBC Radio London.

”Around me there is news we’re thinking about selling him.

“If we do this then it will be a big mistake for my team,” he added.

The club told the same radio station that: “Ultimately, it looks likely there could be a contract extension.

“The club have had multiple bids for him and have rejected them.”

Aluko, who netted only nine goals in 50 appearances for the Cottagers last season, is an important player for Jokanovic’s side.
