Manchester United forward, Alexis Sanchez who completed his long-awaited move away from Arsenal in January has confessed that it’s been tough for him at Old Trafford as he anticipated something better. The 29-year old has been a subject of criticism after his opening weeks display. Fans believe Sanchez who is believed to earn in excess of £500,000 a week is overpaid following his below-par performance.
The Chile International has scored only one goal in 10 appearances and was not included in the squad that defeated Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup quarter-finals last weekend. There have been reports of growing concern within the Red Devils hierarchy as a result of what they have seen from the former Barcelona man since he joined and Sanchez himself has admitted that he needs to improve to get back to his usual self. “As I am self-demanding, I expected something better,” he said. “After my arrival at United, it was hard to change everything very quickly. I even hesitated to come here [to Sweden]. “I had asked permission to miss these games, but then I thought better and spoke with Claudio [Bravo] and told him that we should all be united. “The change of club was something that was very abrupt – it was the first time I’ve changed clubs in January – but many things have happened in my life that are difficult.” He is set to be a part of the Chile national team to face Sweden and Denmark in friendly games within the next few days.
We might have to tie Sanchez with a rope to stop him – Montella
Alexis Sanchez has seen the back of the net once in five games since completing his move to United from Arsenal last month. Notwithstanding, he has transformed the face of Man United attack with his dynamism and that can be exemplified with his pin-point pass to Romelu Lukaku for United’s second goal in Saturday’s 2-0 win at Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup. “How do we stop Sanchez? I don’t know, we’ll have to block him in some way, maybe tie him up with a rope,” Montella told a news conference on Tuesday. “He’s a fantastic player, I saw him play in Italy. He has improved so much as his career has progressed, he’s very fast, he leads counter-attacks, he’s very strong.” The former Milan Boss was a surprise choice to take over at Sevilla after Eduardo Berizzo was fired in December. However, if he can mastermind a huge upset by eliminating the Red Devils at this stage of the competition and guide his side to the quarter-finals for the first time, the decision will be greatly justified. Sevilla has failed to reach the last eight in three attempts, after falling to Fenerbahce on penalties in 2008, CSKA Moscow in 2010 and Leicester City last season. Montella’s experience in Europe hasn’t been spectacular as well as his Fiorentina side was knocked out of Europa League semi-final by Sevilla in 2015, while his previous ride in the Champions League was caught short at the last-16 stage by Shakhtar Donetsk in 2011 while he was with AS Roma. He was in total admiration of the United Manager, Jose Mourinho who is clearly more experienced having overseen 139 UEFA Champions League games and lifted the trophy twice. “I am very excited to be facing Mourinho, he was a pioneer in football tactics and I studied him a lot when I was starting out as a coach,” Montella added. “He has a lot more games than me in the Champions League. Experience is very important, but so is enthusiasm and we will try and play with a lot of it tomorrow.”
He believes that in Mourinho’s United squad, Romelu Lukaku is the main-man upfront and with the acquisition of the Chilean who will almost definitely command a starting position in the squad, he doubted if Rashford’s development will not be hampered.
He went on to take side with the club fans after they were criticized by Mourinho last week that they needed to get louder during games although he was quite conservative in the use of words.
While speaking with Sky Sports, the 44-year old said:“The main problem for Rashford is his best position is as a striker and it doesn’t look as though he’s going to get in ahead of Lukaku. The situation looks quite complicated.”
“He was very good in that position against Yeovil but ultimately he’s not going to get as many goals over a season as Lukaku.
“However, I can’t see Rashford looking at his future at the moment. He’ll get enough games across the four competitions, but the issues are when he isn’t involved in the big games.
“When I first came into the team there were two places for three players – me, Lee Sharpe and Andrey Kanchelskis.
“So, I was just thinking that when I get minutes I have to prove myself.”
Manchester United forward, Alexis Sanchez has been convicted of committing tax fraud during his time with Barcelona in Spain although he will not be behind the bars according to Spanish laws. After a long trial, local prosecutors’ agency Fiscalia de Barcelona has confirmed to reporters that the Chile International has been sentenced to 16 months prison terms for the offence. He will however not be going to jail as he is only a first-time offender and in relation to the law, first-time offenders avoid prison when the sentence is less than 24 months. Sanchez was accused of evading tax in the tune of €1 million [£886,000] and also defrauding the Spanish authorities of income from image rights between 2012 and 2013 as reported by EFE reports. According to the Spanish News Agency’s article, it was revealed that the 29-year old will now pay back the amount alongside its interest over time, plus a fine of €590,065 [£523,029] and he will also be prohibited from receiving public aids and tax incentives in Spain for a period of two years. In a long list of football stars that have been linked with tax-related offences in Spain, Alexis Sanchez is only the latest figure in a list that includes Jose Mourinho, Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria and Javier Mascherano. Ballon d’Or winner, Christiano Ronaldo is equally battling with alleged tax-related offences at the moment. Sanchez representative went on Social Media to make his disinterest and anger known as he wrote about “repeated, consistent and indecent leaks” of information about such cases that relate to football stars in accepting an agreement on Twitter. He went on to state that in a history of the related case that always involves foreigners, the player alongside his team has decided to accept the biased agreement. He wrote: “In these circumstances, and despite having shown that Alexis has not committed any crime, we have been forced, on the recommendation of our advisors, to accept the unfair pact offered and thus alleviate the emotional, personal and economic wear and tear that endures long and tedious oral trials, where the media are used to publicly expose and judge facts of private nature.”
Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney has stated that he expects new Arsenal signing, Henrikh Mkhitaryan to become an instant success for the Gunners after sealing a move away from the Old Trafford this January with Alexis Sanchez going in the opposite direction.
The former Borussia Dortmund star had a great evening on Saturday in a scintillating display for the Gunners in their 5-1 dismantling of Rooney’s Everton.
The Gunners shattered the Toffees in a beautiful attacking display that could have produced even more goals. The Armenian International never lived up to the expectation that was projected of him in United and the former United Captain agrees that his former club doesn’t suit the player’s style of play.
Rooney remarked that an offensive team set-up in Wenger’s Arsenal will mean that Mkhitaryan will play with the attacking instinct and freedom he enjoyed in his best form he displayed in Dortmund.
While speaking with Metro, the England legend said: “I think he is better suited to Arsenal,”
“I saw it in training with him, he’s a very talented player. At United, he didn’t get the freedom he really wanted to perform like he had at Dortmund.”
“It was a different style and at Arsenal, he’ll have players around him. He’ll create goals, he’ll score goals and I think he’ll kick on.”
New Manchester United signing, Alexis Sanchez was involved in United’s FA Cup 4th round clash with Yeovil Town on Friday to make his debut for his new club. Mexican midfielder, Ander Herrera was delighted with the work rate of the untiring Chilean in his impressive debut. The former Arsenal forward laid on two assists for his teammates as Manchester United eased to a 4-0 victory, a game that Herrera himself scored from his assist. However, it was another feature of Alexis’ game on the evening that got his teammates to be all in love with the new acquisition. When asked about his views on Alexis’ display by Manchester United TV Herrera said: “Yeah, amazing. He has played very well, but what I really like from him is the way he fights when he loses the ball. “He is always ready to be the first defender of the team. That’s going to be very important for us. “Of course, we know his quality. He is going to be amazing for us but the way his first, the way he defends I really like it.” Alexis is definitely going to be available to make his Premier League debut for United when they visit Wembley to play Tottenham next Wednesday. He is also likely to be involved in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg encounter with Sevilla next month. The UEFA Champions League and FA Cup provide Jose Mourinho’s side with other probable routes to silverware, with Herrera eager to point out that every trophy still at their reach will be fought for.
Manchester United Manager, Jose Mourinho has showered praise on his latest acquisition, Alexis Sanchez stating that “his ambition, drive and personality” will fit perfectly into Old Trafford. The Chilean swapped Arsenal’s Emirates for Old Trafford with Armenian, Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving in the opposite direction. He was officially announced on Monday in a deal believed to be around £600,000 a week. Being in a fine mood after completing one of his best deals since becoming United’s Manager, Mourinho was quoted speaking to the club official website: “Alexis is one of the best-attacking players in the world and he will complete our very young and talented group of attacking players.” “He will bring his ambition, drive, and personality, qualities that make a Manchester United player and a player that makes the team stronger and the supporters proud of their club dimension and prestige.” Alexis, who we now wear the No 7 shirt at United in his first remarks as a Man United player said: “I am thrilled to be joining the biggest club in the world. I have spent three-and-a-half wonderful years at Arsenal and I bring with me very positive memories of that great club and its fans. “The chance to play in this historic stadium and to work with Jose Mourinho was something I could not turn down. “I am very proud to be the first Chilean player ever to play for United’s first team and I hope I can show our fans all around the world why the club wanted to bring me here.” The former Arsenal man had an expectedly eventful Monday as he was sighted at an immigration office in Liverpool to seal his work permit after completing his Medicals in United’s training ground where he met with club legendary Manager, Sir Alex Ferguson. As a result of this move, Alexis will become the highest paid player in the Premier League history and also United’s best-paid player on almost £600,000 a week with a basic wage of £350,000, £100,000 image rights and £144,000 in bonuses. Alexis said goodbye to his Arsenal team-mates on Friday after training with the rest of the team before their Premier League victory over Crystal Palace. He is now expected to join his new United team-mates on Tuesday as they start preparations for Friday’s FA Cup fourth-round clash with Yeovil Town, after a two day off from the weekend win over Burnley.
Inter Milan Manager, Luciano Spalleti has always been interested in Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez for a long time as a result of his intense admiration for the Chilean and that is known to almost everyone.
Inter persisted in snatching Sanchez from Arsenal last summer as they repeatedly made contacts with him trying to persuade him to ditch the gunners for the San Siro side but reports had it that they couldn’t pay his demands of 12 million euros net per season as they were only offering 6 million euros which could rise to 9 million euros including bonuses. The current highest earners at Inter is Icardi who earns 5 million euros net and Perisic who earns 4 million euros net.
However, it’s certain that more top clubs will come for the former Barcelona attacker by January when the transfer window opens as he has only 6 months left on his Arsenal Contract.
