Antoine Griezmann: Paul Pogba must face the situation and prove himself
France International, Antoine Griezmann has urged his national teammate, Paul Pogba to man up and face the situation of things in his club after an unfortunate turn of event in recent weeks.
The 25-year old midfielder has been an outcast in the United squad lately as he has only featured in only four of 11 matches in all competition. Rumours continue to grow that the £89m player has a torrid relationship with his manager, Jose Mourinho.
France coach, Didier Deschamps spoke about how the young talent has to forget his troubles with United and focus on France at moment, Griezmann has stated that Pogba is in a good state of mind and he is certain he will get over the seemingly tough situation
“He came back [to the squad] with a huge smile on his face,” he told reporters ahead of Friday night’s meeting with Colombia. “He was happy. It’s not easy when you don’t play at your club or you don’t feel at your best. It happened to me and he knows that.
“He still enjoys having fun and working hard, which are what matter the most. It’s up to him to prove and show that he’s still the player that he can be. The coach trusts him, like the entire squad. We need a smiling Paul and an efficient one on the pitch.”
The former Juventus midfielder has not been involved in a goal for United since the 3-0 league triumph over Stoke City in January.
