Guardiola rues missed chances as City were forced to a draw at Burnley

Manchester City Manager, Pep Guardiola has been left frustrated after his team were pegged back to a 1-1 draw due to a host of missed chances by the Citizen’s attack.

Former Real Madrid defender, Danilo scored a beauty in the first half to give the League leaders the lead at Turf Moor but they were denied a fifth straight victory as a result of their wastefulness after Johann Berg Gudmundsson pulled back an equalizer in the last minutes.

The former Bayern Munich Manager while speaking in his post-match conference said: “We played so good, we just missed the last moment to try to score the second one and playing away in the Premier League, in the last 10 minutes anything can happen.

“I’m so happy for the performance, it was outstanding overall”.

England International, Raheem Sterling was glaringly wasteful as he had an unbelievable chance among other half chances to secure the game for the leaders which he all missed. Guardiola however added that: “Anything can happen in football – next game he is going to score.

“Ederson made two good saves, really good. But it was not the key point for dropping two points.

“Danilo scored a fantastic goal, he has the talent to score this kind of goal.”

Club skipper, Vincent Kompany when asked for his comments after the disappointing game said: “We never doubted this league was competitive. We were warned for this kind of situation.

“We knew we would have to take our chances. We created some chances in an incredible manner but we probably ran out of steam because we kept trying and trying and trying, and in the end, we got punished. But we don’t have to feel sad because our performance was good.

“Raheem Sterling has been incredible for us. He’s scored more last-minute goals for us than anyone in this league. But today it didn’t quite happen. But I give top marks to everyone for the way they handled this game.

“There’s one thing you know when you play Burnley, they’re well-organized and well-disciplined. I thought we handled every game against Burnley so far well.

Today they got what they fought for. They got a goal in the last 10 minutes and never stopped believing. We have to make sure we finish games a little earlier next time.”
