Former England Manager, Steve McClaren has said that record-breaking striker, Harry Kane is playing exceptionally well because the team style suits him perfectly. He continued that he expects him to keep his incredible goalscoring form in 2018 so far he remains in Tottenham.
Kane had a phenomenal 2017 as he surpassed superstars, Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo to end the year as the top scorer in Europe with 56goals. That will be the first time in 8 years that neither Messi nor Ronaldo will not claim that feat. He also went on to set a new premier league record after smashing Alan Shearer 22-year record of the highest goals in a calendar year with 39 goals.
If the England International can keep this scoring record it is certain that he will stroll into any team in the world. However, McClaren believes that he is only playing this well because of the structure of the Spurs team.
While speaking with Sky Sports, the former Nottingham Forest boss said: “What he is doing at the present moment is more than impressive, it is phenomenal. I think he is playing in a perfect team at Spurs. You’ve got to stop the supply to him. Spurs press teams, play around the opponent’s penalty box and I think Kane is ideal for that.
“He’s a poacher, a box player. He scores goals in the six-yard box and he’s got a great supply with crosses from Trippier and Rose the other side and Alli’s runs take a lot of defenders on from him, with his runs diagonally, and Eriksen also provides him with a lot of assists. I think he’s in the right team.”
