Ex-Milan star, Flamini trains with Getafe to secure a move

Ex-Milan midfielder who also had two different stints with the Gunners, Matthieu Flamini is reportedly working on securing a contract with Spanish club, Getafe in a bid to get back to football.

In a statement from the club president, Angel Torres, he said “He [Flamini] has come to train two days because (Jose) Bordalas wanted to see how he is doing.

“That he has been a good footballer is undoubted, that is why I have authorized him to train. If it works, we’ll talk and if not, then nothing.”

The tough midfielder is out of contract at the moment having seen out his last contract at Crystal Palace in the summer and was released from the London club subsequently.

In order to return to the pitch again, a Spanish newspaper, Marca reported that Flamini has been training with Getafe’s first team for the past month.

Getafe is currently placed eighth in the league table. They were relegated few seasons ago and only returned to top-flight Spanish football last season.

Gattuso happy with Milan Improvement

Milan legend turn Manager, Gennaro Gattuso has insisted that his side is gradually becoming the team he wants them to be after their hardly-fought 1:1 draw at Fiorentina in the league on Saturday.

Gattuso, who played in a Milan side with intense grit and composure explained that he was glad to see his side avoid defeat after going behind for the first time in the league this season. He was appointed in November to replace underperforming Manager, Vincenzo Montella after a busy summer in which Milan brought in 11 new players.

Gattuso is only getting involved in football management for the first time and in his words, “We are certainly not pretty to watch yet but at least we are starting to do things as a team the way I want it,”

“The first half was not good enough but we were far better after halftime,” said Gattuso who is bringing the touchline passion and restlessness of Conte back to Serie A. “It wasn’t great but at least we got a point.”

“Some players weren’t at their best but we played the match the way we had to. We ran very few risks and for the first time, we did well by reacting and equalizing.”

Ajax appoints Erik Ten Hag as new Manager

33-time Dutch Champions, Ajax has appointed Utrecht Coach, Erik Ten Hag to serve as their new Manager after Marcel Keizer was sacked last week following his failure to guide the team to qualify for the next round in the Dutch Cup.

The former Ajax midfielder, who also played for FC Twente, De Graafschap, RKC Waalwijk and Utrecht before his new appointment is often called the Crown Prince of Dutch football.

He became Utrecht Manager in May 2015 and was voted as the coach of the year in 2016.

The 47-year old had worked as an assistant coach in Bayern Munich in 2013 although he started his coaching career at the Twente Academy far back in 2002.

Ten Hag has also worked at PSV Eindhoven as an assistant manager between 2009 and 2012.

Ajax is currently placed second in the league, five points behind leaders, PSV and thus an instant input will be required from Ten Hag in order to help the club claim the Dutch league again having lost out in the Dutch Cup.

He signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the historical club which is expected to begin by January 1st.

I am proud to receive Maradona’s gift – Hamsik

Napoli Captain, Marek Hamsik has expressed his joy after receiving a pleasant gift from football legend, Diego Maradona for overtaking his all-time scoring record at the club.

Even as Hamsik insists that he’s only concentrating on beating Crotone, his remarkable achievement was celebrated by his teammates as they placed a lovely patch on their jersey sleeve to highlight the landmark that the captain just achieved after overtaking Maradona’s 115 goals with his 116 goals to seal his place as the club all-time top scorer.

Hamsik told Sky Sports Italia “My mind is on the match, as it’s important and we want to end the year on a high. We are concentrated only on our performance,”

“Surpassing Maradona’s record was an achievement, but now what counts more is to win the game and get all three points for the team.

“Maradona gave me a gift. I can’t tell you what it was!”

If they can secure a win this evening it would assure Napoli’s place at the top of the table at the midway stage of the season, sealing their conquest as the Campioni d’Inverno – Winter Champions.

“We’d certainly be happy to be crowned Winter Champions, but ultimately it means little. It’s the three points that count. This is a difficult match, but we want to win.” Hamsik concluded.

Southampton appoints Davis as first-team coach

South Eastern club, Southampton F.C has confirmed the appointment of Kelvin Davis as the first team assistant coach.

The 41-year old, who made over 301 appearances after more than 10 years at the club replaces former coach Eric Black in the position.

The club legend played a spectacular role in the club’s promotion back into the premier league a few seasons ago and he has earlier served as a Football Development Executive after retiring from football in 2016. He is now set to join Manager, Mauricio Pellegrino in the coaching staff of the first team.

Kelvin has a likeable personality and Southampton staffs and fans seem to be happy about his new appointment.

When questioned about his new role, he said: “I’m excited, I’m very proud. For me, it’s a natural progression and, obviously, I’m very excited about being on the frontline and being able to help and support the manager, the first-team players and ultimately the club.

“It’s a time in the season when I wasn’t obviously expecting it to come along, but it has, it’s presented itself, and obviously I’m looking to get my teeth into the current situation and try to support and help the first-team and the club as quickly as I can.”

Mark Noble, Michael Antonio to miss West Brom Game

Westham Manager, David Moyes has stated that club captain, Mark Noble, and Michael Antonio is set to miss the game against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday.

Veteran, Mark Noble has been unavailable since scoring in Westham’s 3:0 victory over Stoke city earlier in December while forward, Antonio had to leave the pitch early in the second half in their 3:2 loss to Newcastle last Saturday.

Although the two key players are almost back to full fitness, Moyes confirmed that he does not expect to have the duo in contention for their game with Pardew’s Baggies.

According to Moyes while speaking with reporters, he said: “Mark Noble is making progress. He hasn’t joined us for full training yet but he is making progress.

“It’s probably a bit too soon to see if Michail Antonio will make the game. He hasn’t joined us for training yet.”

Everton targets Cenk Tosun

Everton Manager, Sam Allardyce is keen on bringing Besiktas forward, Cenk Tosun to the Goodison Park.
The former England tactician, who has turned around the Toffees’ run of results following a dismal start to the season is ready to make Cenk Tosun his first signing for Everton. Allardyce has been outspoken about Everton’s need for a striker since he joined the Merseyside club and the signing of Tosun wouldn’t be a surprise to the fans.
The Turkey International has been courted by a host of premier league clubs such as Crystal Palace, Tottenham, and Newcastle for the past two seasons. He has enjoyed a spectacular start to the season having notched 14 goals in 26 appearances for club and country.
According to reports, it is believed that the German-born Besiktas forward has already undergone a medical at the Toffees’ training ground as they have agreed on a £20M deal with Besiktas which will include a further £5M in add-ons and he is only waiting to join the club officially in January.
Everton has failed to score in their last two games although they are unbeaten in six games since Allardyce became Manager.

Henderson suffers hamstring injury

Liverpool skipper, Jordan Henderson will be out for at least a month after suffering a hamstring injury in the club’s 3:3 draw with Arsenal.
The former Sunderland midfielder limped off in pains at the Emirates and was also not picked for the Red’s Boxing day thrashing of Swansea.
From the results of a scan by Liverpool’s medical team, it has been confirmed that the 27-year old midfielder suffered a grade two tear in his right hamstring which implies that he might be out of contention until February.
He is therefore set to miss their FA Cup third-round game with neighbors, Everton and premier league games against Leicester City, Burnley, Manchester City, Swansea, and Huddersfield.
However, Liverpool expects to have their talisman back in time for their Champions League round of 16 clash with FC Porto in mid-February. In Henderson’s absence Emre Can, who is likely to leave the club in January or wait to run out his contract by the end of the season is expected to play the defensive midfield role.

Darren Fletcher deserves all the credit for my man-of-the-match performance at Huddersfield – Allen

Wales International, Joe Allen has words of praise for his midfield partner, Darren Fletcher for giving him the freedom to shine for Stoke at Huddersfield.

Allen created Stoke City’s equalizer against Huddersfield after collecting a return ball from Cameroonian, Eric Maxim Chuopo-Moting before his powerful run into the box to set up Egyptian, Ramadan Sobhi who slotted in a calm finish. Allen, however, believes former Manchester United midfielder, Fletcher gave him the freedom to be more creative in attack.

“Playing with someone like Darren Fletcher gives me license to get into the final third,” said the former Liverpool midfielder.

“Whether I’m playing as No 10 or deep, I still want to get involved in creating and scoring as often as I can.

“He can lock up behind me and I’m grateful he’s got that discipline and intelligence to let me try to get involved further up the pitch.”

Allen was happy for Ramadan after the Egyptian scored his first Premier League goal for Stoke on Saturday in the victory over West Brom.

“Ramadan got his goal last week and that probably gave him the confidence to get in there,” said Allen.

“Coming off the bench to get two in two and have that impact is great.

“He’s settling in, of course, he is, and he’s still a young lad. People forget just how young he is. He’s adapting all the time, he works hard day in, day out and he’s getting his rewards for that.”

Salah can play for any top club – Cuper

Egypt coach, Hector Cuper stated on Wednesday that Liverpool forward, Muhamed Salah has the quality to play in any top side in the world including World champions, Real Madrid.

“Salah is a very good player who has the ability to play for Real Madrid without doubt,” Spanish magazine Marca quoted Cuper while speaking at the Dubai Globe Soccer Award on Wednesday.

After a spectacular start to his Liverpool career, various reports have been linking Spanish champions, Real Madrid with the Egyptian.

The former Chelsea player has been the star-man for the Reds this season as he has outperformed Brazilian, Philippe Coutinho and Senegalese, Sadio Mane having notched 15 goals in 20 appearances for them so far.

He also has five goals in six games in the UEFA Champions League to help the Anfield club reach the knock-out stage for the first time in many years.

Earlier this month, Real Manager, Zinedine Zidane expressed his love for the left-footed winger after reporters questioned him about Real’s interest in the forward.

“He is a great player; he has shown that in Rome and now in Liverpool,” said the former Ballon d’Or winner.

“He grows and gets better. He is young and can give even more to football. He is a player that I appreciate a lot.”

Liverpool interested in Juventus Winger, Marko Pjaca

If reports from Italian newspaper, Tuttosport is anything to go by, then Juventus winger, Marko Pjaca could be set for a move to Liverpool by January.

Juventus has declared their interest for Liverpool midfielder, Emre Can, who will be out of contract by the end of the season and Pjaca could be part of a deal which could see Can move in the opposite direction.

Can will be allowed to talk to foreign clubs by January and with Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich also reported to be interested in his signature, the Reds will fancy not losing the German on a free in the summer hence having Pjaca in January could be a good option for them.

Pjaca moved to Juventus from Dinamo Zagreb in 2016, but series of injuries have restricted his chances for the Italian champions as has only featured in 19 games for the club.

Watford welcomes back Abdoulaye Doucoure

The Hornets started the season quite spectacularly but have endured a six-game winless run over the past few weeks and they will hope to get back on track when they host Leicester today. The return of Abdoulaye Doucoure from suspension will definitely boost their chances as he has been one of the stand-out performers for them this season and Manager, Marco Silva referred to the French midfielder as the “heartbeat” of his side.

Doucoure received his fifth yellow card of the season in Watford’s 4:1 home loss to Huddersfield Town and thereafter missed their Saturday 1:0 loss at Brighton.

In his post-match media conference on Saturday, Manager, Silva said it would make “a big, big difference” to have Doucoure available to call upon against the Foxes and continued: “Him and Tom Cleverley [who was also unavailable in the loss to Huddersfield and [Nathaniel] Chalobah, the three players in our middle zone, they were amazing at the beginning of the season, they are really the heartbeat of our team.

“We have Ben {Watson], we have [Etienne] Capoue, we have [Roberto] Pereyra as well to play in our middle zone, but of course when you miss one player like Doucoure today, when we miss one player like Tom in our last game at home, I don’t talk more about Chalobah because he’s a longer term injury, but we felt it when we’re missing a player like him.”

I will soon return to Management – Bilic

Former Westham Manager, Stevan Bilic, who has been linked with Swansea and Middlesbrough top jobs has stated that he will make a return to football management soon.

Bilic was fired at Westham in November after failing to turn around the club fortunes as they started the season very poorly having spent heavily in the summer although new Manager, David Moyes has done quite decently since Bilic left.

He guided the hammers to a seventh-place finish in his first season in charge in 2015/2016 season and also finished eleventh last season before this season spineless showing.

The Croatian tactician, who is currently out of job has stated that he has received a couple of good offers and will be back in management soon.

“Many people are calling from here or abroad. A lot of people are calling and I am weighing up the options,” he said while speaking with Sky Sports.

“I am resting now, I have been in a job for 12 years, day in, day out, and it’s always there, even in summer breaks, so I needed a rest and I am trying to enjoy that at the moment and enjoying ‘boring’ stuff and spending time with family and friends.

“I know my position on the map of managers or coaches and know I can maybe wait a little. But I know I am not one of the biggest ones who can switch off their phone for a year and then say now I’m back, so if something really good comes up I will consider it. I already miss it a bit. It’s in your veins, but I also need a rest.”

Klopp aims at top four finish

Ahead of their Boxing day clash with Welsh side, Swansea, Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has conceded that a title triumph will be impossible for the Reds this season but a top-four finish wouldn’t be bad.

Seeing that 20 points separate the league leaders, Manchester City and Liverpool, the German tactician believes that they have all to play for in order to secure Champions League football next season.

Quoting Klopp while speaking with Sky Sports on Monday, he said “We have to qualify for the Champions League. We have to finish as high as possible, it looks like we could be second, third or fourth this year, that’s a fantastic situation. Not the dream but a fantastic situation.”

“That’s what we are working on and for this, we have to improve in all departments.”

“This year, I don’t think that anyone apart from Manchester City and maybe Manchester United are thinking too much about how they can win the league.”

“In a very difficult league, performance-wise we are really consistent so far. If we stay consistent and avoid our mistakes, mistakes like in the 3-3 draw with Arsenal, we will win much more games than we lose or draw.”

“As it was and so it will be against Swansea, we have to perform first of all and then we have to see how the other team can react.”

Swansea are positioned rock bottom on the league table and Klopp understands that his players have to be very careful as a result.

“They are under pressure and that’s clear because they are fighting to stay in the league, 100 percent, and that will not change before Boxing Day,”

“But we will be ready and we will perform, if possible, like against Arsenal but avoid the mistakes we made.

“I don’t really remember the game from last year, to be honest. I remember that we lost it. But that’s not the plan!” he concluded

Why can’t I play till 80? – Buffon

Italy Legend, Gianluigi Buffon has questioned the age impediment that seems to be affiliated with the round leather game, and he otherwise believes that as he “feels like a soldier” he sees no reason why he can’t feature for his club and country if still feels the same at 80.

The veteran goalkeeper, who won the 2006 FIFA World cup with Italy in Germany and also have claimed the Serie A title with Juventus 10 times having made 175 and 638 appearances for Italy and Juventus respectively.

According to reports, the Juventus stopper had a plan to retire from Country football after his 2018 World Cup participation which would have been his sixth appearance at the show-piece but it only remained a dream for him as Sweden denied Italy the chance of qualifying.

“I just don’t know how to answer these (retirement) questions,” the goalkeeper was quoted while speaking with goal on Sunday.

“Will I stop? Will I not stop? I feel like a soldier in the service of my club and my country. The big picture was always more important to me than my own. That’s how I see my work.”

He was voted as the Goalkeeper of the Year by FIFA this year after also finishing 4th in the Ballon d’Or race, he believes he might have to quit the game at some point but he will remain accessible should they [club & country] have a need for him.

“I am very likely to stop, but I am still available for Juventus and the national team.”

“Even at 80, if suddenly no goalkeeper would be there, they should call me — I would train briefly and then jump in,” Buffon concluded.

Man City interested In Arsenal Player

As there are growing concerns among the Emirates ranks about the commitment of the Chilean to the Club, the Gunners might consider letting their star-man leave in January should they get a bid above £35 Million.

With only 1-year left on his contract, Manchester City was ready to pay £60 Million to take him to Etihad last summer, but the North Londoners turned down the attractive offer with the hope that they will be able to convince their man to sign a new deal.

As the January transfer window looms, Arsenal are aware that it might be difficult to get as much as £60 Million for him anymore but will prefer to have an amount in excess of £35 Million rather than see him leave for nothing come summer as his contract talks with Arsenal has suffered a serious setback.

It is unknown if Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who are the top admirer last summer will be willing to spend as much as that for a player with six months left on his contract although the attacker is keen on reuniting with his former manager in Manchester.

French Ligue 1 giant, Paris Saint Germain are also reported to be interested in Sanchez signature and with Arsenal long-time target, Julian Draxler in their ranks, a move to Paris might just be on the cards for the former Barcelona forward in January.

We put in a remarkable performance – Benitez showers praise on his players

Newcastle Manager, Rafa Benitez has praised his players for their fighting spirit in their victory over Westham to secure their first win since October.

The Magpies has had a difficult run of games in their last ten matches and their not too impressive results got them into the relegation zone but their victory today ensured they climbed back to 15th on the league table few days ahead of Christmas.

Benitez said after the match: “I think it’s a great day for our fans, players, and everyone. We have been working so hard and have not won, it was a pity.

“But at Westham, we fought for every single ball.

“We worked so hard, hit the post and the bar.

“There was also a penalty outside the box and other things went against us, but we held on.

“Rob Elliot saved a penalty and we got the goals when we needed them.

“There were so many games that we deserved more than we got.

“We can enjoy it for a couple of days now.”

Even as the former Liverpool Manager is now hopeful that his team has turned their situation around, he was not too concerned.

He continued: “I hope so.

“It’s difficult when you have a bad run but we analyzed the games and deserved more from four or five of them.

“But we lost confidence and it was very important for us to win.

“It was important for us to have a good performance against a good team, and they started well with pace, then later this long balls and second balls, but we dealt with things well.” – Benitez concluded.

Guardiola understands his striker’s frustration

Manchester City Manager, Pep Guardiola has explained that he totally understands star-striker, Sergio Aguero’s frustrations seeing that his playing time has significantly reduced.

As he labelled the former Atletico Madrid striker a Legend, Aguero showcased his individual brilliance on Saturday to help City past Bournemouth by 4-0 to get their 17th successive Premier League win.

The Argentine got his first goal of the game just before the half-hour mark with a slouching header, before doubling the Citizens’ lead in the second half. In-form England forward, Raheem Sterling and summer signing from Real Madrid, Danilo were also on the scoresheet.

His stellar performance will do well to remind Pep Guardiola of what he could lose if the City record highest goal scorer decides to leave as there are reports of his growing frustration with his limited opportunity.

Guardiola, however, applauded Aguero’s display, before confirming that he understands Aguero, as well as some other players, might be annoyed.

“He is a special player, there’s no doubt about that,” Guardiola is quoted as saying by the club’s official website.

“He’s a legend and I am so happy when he plays good and he is scoring goals.

“I was a football player. I understand the players in that when they are substituted and don’t play, they are sad and upset.

“I understand our job is to try and search to find a weakness, but I try to have the best relationship with my players as possible.

“Sometimes, I think Gabriel Jesus deserves to play – and Bernardo Silva and Eliaquim Mangala. The important thing is that they have respect for each other.

“If they are not happy with me, that is not a problem, but they have an amazing relationship between them. The locker room is a dream and to play with them and train with them.

“I have a lot of respect for Sergio Aguero and all he has done, what he does and what he will do in the future.

“He will decide everything about his future and his life. I am so happy to have him here with Gabriel Jesus and the squad.”

Antoine Griezmann will be perfect for Lionel Messi – Henry

In the words of Sky Sports pundit and former Barcelona star Thierry Henry, Barcelona target, Antione Griezmann will be a major boost to the attacking firepower of Barca and would form a perfect partnership with a superstar, Lionel Messi.

Reports keep linking the French forward with a move away from Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are one of the major contenders for his signature. Attackers, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, who both scored in the Clasico victory over Real Madrid today, and summer signing, Ousmane Dembele, who is not far away from returning from injury, would most likely be competing with Griezmann for the attacking three spots in Barcelona’s 4:3:3 formations.

But Arsenal Legend, Henry believes it would allow Valverde to rotate his squad, keep the squad competitive, and have them in the best condition possible.

“He can fit in perfectly,” Henry said of Griezmann.

“You want big players in big teams.

“If you had the option of, for example, today we said they were a bit short on the bench, I’m not saying he would be on the bench or Dembele would be on the bench, but if you can alternate, rotate at times and give those guys (a rest).

“I think Griezmann can fit into any team in the world at the minute.

“What I’m saying is you want big players in big teams.

“And so, if he goes there, I’m sure the Barcelona guys will welcome him.”

Guardiola prepares £50 million to bring Busquets to Etihad

Barcelona midfielder, Sergio Busquets has been repeatedly linked with his former Manager, Pep Guardiola and is reported to be interested in joining him at the Etihad in a deal which could be in the tune of £50 million.

The 30-year old, who rose to prominence under Guardiola is believed to be one of the major additions the former Bayern Munich Manager aims to bring to his high flying Manchester City side.

Busquets is a typical Guardiola player with his intelligent passing, fantastic technique and impressive positional play, he is certainly one of the best in the world in his position.

According to reports from Don Balon, The Catalan club might not be interested in releasing their long-serving veteran especially not for such amount although they are concerned about the relationship Guardiola has with the player.

Manchester City has been in their blistering best this season as they have won 16 straight games in the league to seal their place in Premier League history for the most consecutive victories in a football season.

Breaking: Sevilla fires Berizzo

Reports have confirmed that Sevilla Manager, Eduardo Berizzo has been dismissed by the Club as the directors blamed their decision on the team’s terrible run of form.

The club released a statement on Friday that they will formalize the hiring of a new Manager after the Christmas holidays having released Berizzo just a month after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Sevilla lost to Real Sociedad on Wednesday to make it seven losses in nine games after they had drawn with Levante earlier last Friday, a result that led to dissatisfaction from the fans.

They had suffered several wide margins defeats this season which includes their 5:1 thrashing at Spartak Moscow, 4:0 loss to Valencia and 5:0 loss to champions, Real Madrid to mention a few, although the club is still positioned 5th in the league and they still remain in the Champions League and Copa del Rey.

Rodriquez keen on staying in Bayern Munich

Columbian attacker, James Rodriguez says he will prefer to continue his football career at the Allianz Arena rather than move back to his parent club, Real Madrid at the end of his two-year loan.

Rodriquez, who caught the attention of the football world with his tantalizing display at the 2010 World cup in South Africa has scored twice and provided three assists in 12 league games for Bayern Munich this season.

With his current deal, it is expected that he will return to Real by 2019, but James has revealed that he might be staying longer in Germany

Rodriquez while speaking with Sport 1 said “At Bayern Munich, it’s great. For that reason, I can see myself playing here for many years more,”

Bayern Munich are at the same level as Real Madrid, a club of the highest quality. They always fight for titles and are used to securing them. I really like Munich. It’s a bit cold, but I’m adapting well. This is a new life for me and Munich is a fantastic city.”

After failing to secure a place in Zinedine Zidane’s first eleven, he decided to leave Real Madrid last summer.

Swansea appoint Leon Britton as caretaker Manager

Premier League side, Swansea have confirmed the appointment of Club Legend, Leon Britton to take charge of the team temporarily while they continue their lookout for a permanent handler.
Britton, who joined Swansea in 2003 will replace former Manager, Paul Clement who was fired on Wednesday after a disgraceful run of results.
The Welch side are positioned rock-bottom of the premier league table after obtaining just 12 points from the first 18 games of the season having lost eight of the last ten games.
The newly appointed caretaker manager who is following in the steps of his former Manager, Garry Monk, who also became Manager from being club captain after the sacking of Michael Laudrup in 2014 will be assisted by U-23 coaches Gary Richards and Cameron Toshack. Tony Roberts will be the new goalkeeping coach.
They took charge of training on Thursday morning and they will be in the dugout in Saturday’s premier league match against Crystal Palace.
The former midfielder, Britton stepped into a player-coaching role last month after a 15-year playing career with Swansea, but he now has the chance to impress at the top level.

We feel pain watching Milan’ – Berlusconi

Former A.C Milan Vice President, Paolo Berlusconi says himself alongside his family feel pain whenever they watch the team play.
Even as his brother, Silvio had sold out the club to foreign owners in April, the emotional bond that they share with the club still remains and the struggles of the Rossoneri on the pitch only bring pain to them.
“As true fans, we’re all feeling pain,” Berlusconi said while speaking with Tuttomercatoweb.
“After the club was sold I wanted to see if my suffering would be different but nothing changed. After a big transfer campaign, we have fewer points than this time last year with a team which hasn’t proven to be competitive yet.
“They shouldn’t take this criticism as condemnation though; the new owners need time. You can’t blame my brother because the new owners invested quite heavily in the transfer market.
“Instead of great players, the new directors decided to take 11 new players. We have to be patient though, after many years of success there can be years of transition.
“Now there’s a new directorship which must try to revive Milan. It makes me smile, this hypothesis that this was a fake sale and just my brother’s manoeuvre to bring back money from abroad.
“That is bad faith and stupidity,” Berlusconi concluded.

Gary Neville has some words on Manchester City’s over celebration

Manchester United Legend, Gary Neville has said that neighbour, Manchester City’s over celebrations after consecutive victories are signals that they will be hard to beat and might not be dropping points anytime soon.
Pep Guardiola’s Men are 11points ahead at the top of the league and talks from different corners keep suggesting a possibility of them winning a quadruple this campaign although the Manager has rubbished such claims.
They have been criticized most notoriously by Jose Mourinho for their “excessive” celebrations especially after their derby victory over United in the last weeks.
Neville, while speaking with a class of ’92 Live thinks that the way they feel good might further fuel their chances of major success this season.
“My own view is that United had to damage them a couple of weeks ago – not only did that not happen, but City came out of Old Trafford more confident – that’s a problem,” Neville said.
“They will be difficult to stop. You see the wave of celebrations – I saw it at Huddersfield before the United game – they are over-celebrating, that’s not a criticism. When you have that wave of celebration and spirit, you can feel it. It’s very difficult to stop. I’m not sure what can stop them.”
City’s league-leading team are already being compared with great teams of old and one of them is the Manchester United’s treble-winning side of 1999.
Ryan Giggs, who played a significant role in that spectacular team doubts if City possesses the strength in depth to compete in all competitions and repeat the feat his teammates achieved in 1999.
“When we did it, we had a lot of luck along the way – we had a brilliant squad,” he said.
“Have City got that type of squad? I’m not sure they have. Obviously the starting XI, maybe 12, 13 players. But they are on fire at the moment.
“It’s very difficult to do – to win cup games, anything can happen. You’ve got to change the team. The way they changed it at Leicester and won on penalties. It’s very difficult to do despite them being on fire. It’s a long season, especially over the Christmas period. If they come out of it unscathed then they’ll have a good chance.”

Jack Wilshere keeps World Cup Hopes Alive

Jack Wilshere made his first start for Arsenal in the premier league after a long time last week and thereafter believes that he can make it to the Three Lions World Cup squad.

The Arsenal midfielder, who was considered one of the best English youngsters a few seasons ago has struggled badly with series of injuries over the past four seasons as he spent last season on loan at Bournemouth to have more game time and also recuperate well before returning to Arsenal.

The 25-year-old hasn’t featured for England since their surprising 2:1 loss to Iceland at Euro 2016, but as he gets better and better for the Gunners, he believes he only has to keep World Cup hopes alive.

While speaking with Sky Sports News, he said “I think I have proved to myself that I can play in the premier league, I have trust in my body again and I am confident going into games that I can affect them.

“That is all I can do, I can have a positive effect on this team and then we will see if the England Manager picks me”

From the new year day which also doubles as his birthday, Wilshere can talk to foreign clubs as his contract with Arsenal will be due by the end of the season and although Wenger has confirmed that contract talks with the midfielder will start this month, he believes Arsenal is his home.

“This is where I want to be, this is where I see myself in the future, whether I will be or things sort themselves out then we will see in the next couple of weeks I suppose but Arsenal is definitely my home”.

“I am enjoying my football and am playing in the Premier League now and I want to help Arsenal get to where it ought to be.

“I think the biggest thing for any footballer, even more so for me because of the injuries and the games I’ve missed in the past, is that you are playing.

“Aside from that, there are a few small things to sort out but as long as I am playing I am happy, I have missed too much football and I just want to be playing, really.

“I have a solid mentality at the moment, I want to continue that and improving on my form, affecting the team, having a positive impact on the team and helping the team try and get into the top four and challenge for trophies,” Wilshere concluded.

Real Madrid step up interest in Griezmann after Atletico, Barcelona

La Liga giant, Real Madrid have reportedly stepped up their interest in French forward, Antoine Griezmann following the dramatic turn of events between Atletico and Barcelona.

According to reports from Daily Mirror, Atletico Madrid are angry with contacts Barcelona have made with the player which seems to have swung the pendulum in Real’s favour.

Diano Gol also reported that the France International has been told to decline all offers from Manchester United and Barcelona so as to finalize a move to Los Blancos.

It is unclear if the Red Devils are actually willing to make a move although the Sun claimed that Jose Mourinho has discussed with the player about a possible move to the theatre of dreams last summer, it is certain he will be a major addition to Manchester United.

Romelu Lukaku has struggled against top sides in the premier league this season and with Champions League games set to be back soon, the Red Devils might consider other alternatives.

Transfer talks about Griezmann, who can play out wide, alone up front or in an offensive midfield role is toughing up and all fingers are crossed about what January holds for the sensational French attacker.

Juve learnt their lesson about release clauses after Pogba sale.

Manchester United bought back their academy product, Paul Pogba from Juventus last summer and the Turin club had a massive lesson to learn from the transfer.

Release clauses are quite popular among Spanish clubs but it isn’t in Italy. Although Juventus had snapped up Miralem Pjanic and Gonzalo Higuain from their respective clubs by activating their release clauses.

The sale of the French midfielder to Manchester United taught Bappe Marotta about release clauses flaws, he believes that as the clauses are attached when players sign new contracts rather than when clubs are interested in signing them makes it delicate.

Had there been a release clause in Pogba’s contract that he signed in 2014, it would have been around 50 – 60 million euros and it would have been impossible for Juventus to demand the £89 million Manchester United paid for the player.

Atletico drags Barcelona to FIFA over Griezmann contact

Atletico Madrid has dragged Barcelona to FIFA for an illegal contact about transfer talks with Antoine Griezmann.

Barcelona director Guillermo Amor told Movistar on Sunday that president Josep Maria Bartomeu may have made contact with the French forward’s family who are also his representatives about a likely transfer as he has been repeatedly linked with the Catalan club in the Spanish media

“Atletico Madrid has presented a complaint about Barcelona for repeated contact between Barcelona, the player, and his people,” Atletico said.

“Griezmann has a long contract and this cannot be permitted, while the club also considers it could affect the competition [La Liga] in which Barcelona are currently top and Atletico are second.”

Barcelona has been a victim of transfer issues just a few seasons ago as they were punished with a one-year transfer ban in 2014 for signing under-age players by FIFA. The club has yet to respond when pressed for their comment.

FIFA also confirmed that they had received the formal complaint from Atletico, but had no further comment at this stage.

Antoine Griezmann, 26 had signed a new Atletico contract in June until 2022, with a €100m release clause.

Ozil step up play to attract suitors ahead of January transfer window – Wright

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has said that Mesut Ozil’s recent turn-around in form is designed to attract suitors ahead of the transfer window which will open again in few days.

The German star will be out of contract with Arsenal by the end of the season and thus will be allowed to agree on terms and pre-contract with overseas clubs from next month.

Ozil, who is been targeted by Barcelona, Manchester United, and Inter Milan has stepped up his play significantly and Wright thinks that his run of form will have done nothing but persuade his suitors to be more persistent on making a move either by securing him on a free in the summer or for a cut-down fee in January.

While speaking with the Media after Saturday’s 1-0 win over Newcastle, where the former Real Madrid playmaker scored an outstanding volley which ended up been the only goal of the match, Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger said the club record signing before bringing on Alexandre Lacazette last summer is playing his best football since joining Arsenal in 2013. However, Wright fears he is not doing that for the club’s benefit.

“Mesut Ozil is finally becoming the player everybody hoped he would be from day one at Arsenal,” Wright wrote in the Sun.

“Sure, it’s great to see at the moment but it also makes me feel that there is only one reason for it — he is gearing up to leave.

“It is no coincidence that Ozil turns it on just as January is looming in the final year of his deal when he becomes free to talk to other clubs

“I hope I’m wrong but I fear I’m right, right, right. Given the timing of his sudden improvement, I would be stunned if Ozil signs a new deal and stays at Arsenal.”

Although Wenger has regularly reiterated that he expects Ozil to sign a contract extension, as he told Standard Sport again after the victory over Rafael Benitez’ Newcastle that the stylish German does not need “to be convinced”, Wright expects otherwise.
