Algeria Football Federation (FAF) boss Kheireddine Zetchi will reportedly try to convince Olympique Lyon youngster Houssem Aouar to play for the Fennec Foxes at international level.

Aouar, 19, has caught the eye for Lyon this season, with the attacking midfielder earning rave reviews for his technical skill and vision.

Aouar was born and raised in Lyon, France, and has represented the European country at U-17 level.

However, he is of Algerian descent and Le Buteur reports that he is likely to welcome an approach from the FAF.

Changing his international allegiance will also be a relatively easy process, as he has not represented France’s junior teams in any competitive fixtures.

The teenager has even earned praise from former Lyon star Karim Benzema: “This player, I like him. He is technical, he has a good vision. If he works, he can go far,” said the Real Madrid star.

OL goalkeeper Anthony Lopes also sees great things in Aouar’s future: “I’m not at all surprised by his performances,” he told RMC.

“He’s been working with the pro group for two years now. He has fully seized his chance and shows his qualities on the field.

“He has the talent, he is very intelligent, he is laid and I think he will make a very good career.”

Begian First Division A outfit KRC Genk have boosted their squad with the signing of Ghana youth international Joseph Aidoo.

The 21-year-old defender has been on the books of Swedish side Hammarby IF and he has now secured a move to Genk.

Aidoo, who is a former Ghana Under-20 star, has joined Genk on a long-term deal.

Genk confirmed the player’s arrival on their official website.

A club statement read: “KRC Genk reached an agreement with Joseph Aidoo today (* 29/9/94). The Ghanaian defender signs a contract for 3 years in Genk with 1 year option.

“Aidoo started his career with the Ghanaian Inter Allies. After a strong loan loan at Swedish Hammarby IF, the Scandinavian team also finally made him in January 2016.

“At Hammarby, Joseph was good at 30 games and 1 goal, and he appeared at various European teams. Aidoo is physically very strong, good at head and in one against one situation. He can be played at various positions and is thus a very valuable addition to the Genkse kernel.”

Aidoo made 12 appearances in the 2017 Swedish Allsvenskan for Hammarby.

He played for Ghana at the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup finals in New Zealand.
