Eyes will be fixed on Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang when the German Bundesliga club welcome fierce rivals Schalke 04 to the iconic Signal Iduna Park this weekend.

The Gabon international missed the club’s 2-1 defeat away to Stuttgart after being axed from the squad due to a reported breach of team protocol, but made his return in a midweek UEFA Champions League tie.

The 28-year-old finding the back of the net in a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur as Dortmund’s struggles in Europe’s premier cup competition continued.

That, though, will be quickly forgotten with victory over the ‘Royal Blues’ in the The Revierderby on Saturday, as Dortmund aim to resurrect their season having initially gotten off to a blistering start.

Aubameyang has scored 16 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions this season, but hasn’t found the back of the net in Germany’s top-flight since mid-October.

Congo and Uganda will have one eye on the future when they go head-to-head in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Stade Municipal de Kintélé in Brazzaville on Sunday afternoon.

Kick-off is at 15h30 local time (16h30 CAT).

The match is a mere formality with Egypt having emerged victorious in Group E – subsequently booking their place at a first World Cup since 1990.

Both Congo and Uganda were hopeful of shining on the world’s stage for the very first time, but it was not to be for either nation.

The Cranes, though, can especially hold their heads high having held Ghana to successive goalless draws, while also registering a notable 1-0 win over the Pharaohs in Kampala.

Diables Rouges have endured a tougher time, and suffered defeat in both of their previous two home matches [1-2 to Egypt] and [1-5 to Ghana], but did show great resilience in both Alexandria and Kumasi.

Despite the match being classified as a so called ‘dead-rubber’ – Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango has highlighted the importance of the clash for the Cranes.

“We need to get into the habit of winning away from home so that it helps us build a winning mentality,” Onyango added.

“It may be a so-called dead rubber, but for us it means everything,”

“We are using it to prepare for other upcoming engagements and we want to finish strong and get a better seeding and draws,” he concluded.

The reverse fixture in Kampala last year ended in a 1-0 win for the then hosts. Farouk Miya with the only goal of the game.

Egypt and Stoke City winger Ramadan Sobhi wants to reach the FIFA World Cup on a regular basis and make it a habit.

The 20-year-old Pharaohs international spoke to the KingFut website, saying he is already looking beyond the 2018 tournament in Russia to ensure Egypt re-establish themselves back on the biggest stage.

Sobhi contributed to their 2-1 win over Congo on Sunday to book a spot at the tournament for the first time since 1990.

“The match was difficult, thank god that we made it. All that mattered was the fans, we wanted to make them happy and we did,” said Sobhi.

“What the players went through is immense and showed that they are men and responsible. It won’t be our last World Cup, it will become a habit for us to qualify afterwards.

“I want to thank the fans, the ones who were in the stadium and everyone in every part of Egypt. It all happened because of everyone’s support.”

Former Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o is eager to coach Italian giants Inter Milan.

This is according to the 36-year-old striker’s close adviser George Gardi, who also stated that Eto’o wants to ply his trade in the U.S.A.

Eto’o currently plays for Turkish Super Lig side Antalyaspor where he has scored close to 40 goals since joining the club at the beginning of the 2015/16 season.

“I don’t rule out the possibility of him renewing his contract for another season. Then he aims to finish his career in Major League Soccer.

“But once he has hung up his boots, he wants to become a coach. It is his desire to manage Inter Milan some day,” he concluded.

Eto’o played for Inter between 2009 and 2011, and he won the Serie A title, Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana, UEFA Champions League as well as the FIFA Club World Cup.

Nigerian international Anthony Okpotu is looking forward to helping the Super Eagles win the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations title in Ghana.

Okpotu, who plays for Lobi Stars, won the Goal King of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) on the last day of the season after scoring 19 goals.

However, the marksman says he’s not targeting the Cup of Nations Golden Boot award as his top priority is to help the Super Eagles win the tournament.

“I am not targeting the highest goal scorer in the WAFU tournament,” Okpotu told ScoreNigeria.

“I would prefer the team won the cup than for me to be the highest goal scorer.

“But if along the line the opportunity comes for me to be top scorer, I will grab it and make it a double – the cup and the award.”

Nigeria, who are under the guidance of coach Salisu Yusuf, will open their campaign in the West African competition on Monday against Sierra Leone.

The encounter will be played at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in the city of Cape Coast.

Monday Sep 04, 2017. 12:00

Burkina Faso head coach Paulo Duarte is plotting Senegal’s downfall following Saturday’s goalless stalemate between the two West African nations.

The Stallions held Senegal to a 0-0 draw in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match at the Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor in Dakar.

“Over the whole game, we can say that it is a fair result, a result just because both teams have had opportunities,” Duarte said on

“We put in place a strategy that worked because we knew that we were facing a big team like Senegal. We should not leave spaces.

The return leg match between Burkina Faso and the Lions of Teranga will take place at the Stade du 4 Aout in Ouagadougou on Tuesday.

“Against Senegal, who have many players quality, it was necessary to put in place a strategy,” the Portuguese tactician continued.

“But we know that this team in spite of the quality of its team, does not make results.

“The first leg is over and we will play our cards thoroughly at the return against a great team that has not yet said its last word. But we too.”

The draw left Burkina Faso placed at the top of Group D standings with five points. Senegal are placed second with four points with three matches left.

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande has admitted that the Soweto giants lacked consistency last season, as they ended another campaign without silverware.

The Amakhosi were guilty of dropping valuable points throughout the campaign, most notable conceding a catalogue of late goals as they eventually ended the 2016-17 season 10 points behind champions Bidvest Wits.

In an interview with, Katsande revealed that he and his teammates will be eyeing more consistency in the new season.

“Firstly, I need to thank the Almighty. I need to thank the Amakhosi family for the trust and loyalty they have in me,” Katsande told “That’s why I personally aim to be more consistent, to repay and thank everyone.

“If I can give 110 percent, defend harder, react quicker with better decision-making, week in and week out, I would be satisfied with my contribution.

“Last season it went in patches, but my goal is to keep it on the highest level at all times. In this way I’m hoping to assist my teammates and my overall contribution to the club,” the

The former Ajax Cape Town hardman continued: “I think consistency is also an aspect we fell short as a collective. There were certain games where we were on top of things and we let it slip and it cost us.

“I think our game management also needs to improve as it will be key this season. But these are things we have addressed and need to rectify going forward,” the 31-year-old concluded.
